Abstract

An LCD capable of preventing and electrostatic discharge is provided. The LCD includes a liquid crystal panel for displaying an image, a PCB on which electronic devices are mounted to generate signals for driving the liquid crystal panel, and a protective pattern formed around an electronic device of the electronic devices, which is vulnerable to an electrostatic discharge.

Claims

1. A liquid crystal display device (LCD) comprising:

a liquid crystal panel for displaying an image;

a printed circuit board (PCB) having electronic devices mounted thereon to generate signals for driving the liquid crystal panel; and

a protective pattern formed around an electronic device which is vulnerable to an electrostatic discharge separating the vulnerable electronic device from other electronic devices.

2. The LCD according to claim 1, wherein the electronic device vulnerable to the electrostatic discharge is covered with a cover shield.

3. The LCD according to claim 1, wherein the electronic device vulnerable to the electrostatic discharge is not covered with a cover shield.

4. The LCD according to claim 3, wherein the electronic device vulnerable to the electrostatic discharge is a variable resistor.

5. The LCD according to claim 1, further comprising a plurality of signal patterns and a plurality of ground patterns formed on the PCB.

6. The LCD according to claim 5, further comprising a solder resistor on the ground patterns.

7. The LCD according to claim 6, wherein the protective pattern is a ground pattern that is exposed to an exterior by opening the solder resistor.

8. The LCD according to claim 1, wherein other electronic devices are adjacent to the electronic device vulnerable to the electrostatic discharge having the protective pattern interposed therebetween.

9. The LCD according to claim 5, wherein the protective pattern guides the electrostatic discharge to the ground pattern.

10. A printed circuit board (PCB) comprising:

a substrate;

an electronic device mounted on the substrate and vulnerable to an electrostatic discharge; and

a protective pattern formed around the electronic device.

11. The PCB according to claim 10, wherein the electronic device vulnerable to the electrostatic discharge is covered with a cover shield.

12. The PCB according to claim 10, wherein the electronic device vulnerable to the electrostatic discharge is not covered with a cover shield.

13. The PCB according to claim 12, wherein the electronic device vulnerable to the electrostatic discharge is a variable resistor.

14. The PCB according to claim 10, further comprising a plurality of signal patterns and a plurality of ground patterns formed on the PCB.

15. The PCB according to claim 14, further comprising a solder resistor on the ground pattern.

16. The PCB according to claim 15, wherein the protective pattern is a ground pattern exposed to an exterior by the open solder resistor.

17. The PCB according to claim 10, wherein other electronic devices are formed adjacent to the electronic device vulnerable to the electrostatic discharge, with the protective pattern interposed therebetween.

18. The PCB according to claim 14, wherein the protective pattern guides the electrostatic discharge to the ground patterns.
