Abstract

A user interface is presented through which a training plan is established. The training plan includes a plurality of workouts each describing a human physical activity. The training plan is stored within data storage for selection by any of a plurality of users. In response to a user among said plurality of users selecting said training plan, data describing at least one workout in said training plan is electronically transmitted to a client device associated with the user.

Claims

1. A method, comprising:

providing a user interface through which a training plan including a plurality of workouts each describing a human physical activity is established;

storing said training plan in data storage for selection by any of a plurality of users; and

in response to a user among said plurality of users selecting said training plan, electronically transmitting data describing at least one workout in said training plan to a client device associated with the user.

2. The method of claim 1, wherein said client device is a wireless client device and said electronically transmitting comprises electronically transmitting said data over-the-air to the wireless client device.

3. The method of claim 1, and further comprising:

in response to said user selecting said training plan, storing said training plan in a personal training journal of said user remote from said client device.

4. The method of claim 3, and further comprising:

providing a user interface through which a user can enter payment information;

wherein said step of said storing said training plan in a personal training journal is performed in response to entry of said payment information.

5. The method of claim 1, wherein said electronically transmitting comprises automatically downloading to said client device workouts within a next time interval that is less than a total duration of said training plan.

6. The method of claim 1, wherein said training plan includes a time-based performance goal for at least one of said workouts.

7. The method of claim 1, wherein:

said step of providing said user interface comprises providing a wizard interface; and

said method further comprises automatically generating said training plan in a markup language format in response to inputs received via said wizard interface.

21. The program product of claim 1, wherein:

said step of providing said user interface comprises providing a wizard interface; and

said method further comprises automatically generating said training plan in a markup language format in response to inputs received via said wizard interface.

8. A server computer system, comprising:

processing hardware; and

data storage including;

a training plan module processed by said processing hardware to provide a user interface through which a training plan including a plurality of workouts each describing a human physical activity is established;

a training plan database in which said training plan is stored for selection by any of a plurality of users; and

wherein said training plan module, responsive to a user among said plurality of users selecting said training plan, electronically transmits data describing at least one workout in said training plan to a client device associated with the user.

9. The server computer system of claim 8, wherein said client device is a wireless client device and said training plan module electronically transmits said data over-the-air to the wireless client device.

10. The server computer system of claim 8, said data storage further comprising a personal training journal of said user, wherein said training plan module stores said training plan in said personal training journal of said user n response to said user selecting said training plan.

11. The server computer system of claim 10, wherein said training journal module provides a user interface through which a user can enter payment information, and wherein said training journal module stores said training plan in said personal training journal in response to entry of said payment information.

12. The server computer system of claim 8, wherein said training plan module automatically downloads to said client device workouts within said training plan within a next time interval that is less than a total duration of said training plan.

13. The server computer system of claim 8, wherein said training plan includes a time-based performance goal for at least one of said workouts.

14. The server computer system of claim 8, wherein:

said user interface comprises wizard interface; and

said training plan module automatically generates said training plan in a markup language format in response to inputs received via said wizard interface.

15. A program product, comprising:

a data processing system usable medium including program code for causing a data processing system to perform a method including the steps of;

providing a user interface through which a training plan including a plurality of workouts each describing a human physical activity is established;

storing said training plan in data storage for selection by any of a plurality of users; and

in response to a user among said plurality of users selecting said training plan, electronically transmitting data describing at least one workout in said training plan to a client device associated with the user.

16. The program product of claim 15, wherein said client device is a wireless client device and said electronically transmitting comprises electronically transmitting said data over-the-air to the wireless client device.

17. The program product of claim 15, wherein said method further comprises:

in response to said user selecting said training plan, storing said training plan in a personal training journal of said user remote from said client device.

18. The program product of claim 17, wherein said method further comprises:

providing a user interface through which a user can enter payment information;

wherein said step of said storing said training plan in a personal training journal is performed in response to entry of said payment information.

19. The program product of claim 15, wherein said electronically transmitting comprises automatically downloading to said client device workouts within a next time interval that is less than a total duration of said training plan.

20. The program product of claim 15, wherein said training plan includes a time-based performance goal for at least one of said workouts.
