A method for treating an ocular disease or disorder in a mammal comprising administering an effective amount of a lantibiotic to the mammal, wherein the ocular disease or disorder is selected from the group consisting of allergies, glaucoma, cataract, corneal disease, vitreo-retinal diseases, diseases and disorders of the optic nerve, oculosystemic diseases and disorders, diseases and disorders of the uvea and/or a diabetic eye disease.

Abstract
Compositions and methods for treating ocular diseases and disorders are provided. The composition can contain at least one lantibiotic, which can be administered topically by injection, systemically, or by other appropriate means. The methods provided include the administration of a therapeutically effective amount of a formulation containing at least one lantibiotic to the appropriate section of the eye.
