Abstract

A computer implemented method is provided for directing region-specific information. The method receives information relating to location of users, and provides location-specific information to the users.

Claims

1. A method implemented by a computer-based search engine, comprising:

receiving a search query;

receiving information related to current location of a user;

processing the search query as a function of the current location of the user; and

transmitting search results to the user.

2. The method of claim 1, further comprising receiving global positioning system based information relating to location of the user.

3. The method of claim 1, further comprising receiving user input information related to the user'"'"'s current location.

4. The method of claim 1, further comprising receiving user input information relating to geographic region that the search results should be limited to.

5. The method of claim 1, further comprising pushing advertising information to the user that is a function of the current location of the user.

6. The method of claim 1 further comprising processing the search query as a function of user demographics.

7. The method of claim 1 further comprising processing the search query as a function of user preferences.

8. The method of claim 1 further comprising updating the search results as a function of change in physical location of the user.

9. The method of claim 1 further comprising pushing targeted advertisements to the user that is based at least in part on current location of the user determined by a GPS system, and user demographics.

10. The method of claim 1 further comprising pushing audio based advertisements to a user as a function of current location of the user.

11. The method of claim 1 further comprising transmitting the audio based advertisements for playback on an automobile radio.

12. The method of claim 1 further comprising pushing targeted advertisements to the user for rendering on a mobile computing device of the user.

13. The method of claim 12 further comprising selecting targeted advertisements to be pushed to the user as a function of user location.

14. The method of claim 12 further comprising selecting targeted advertisements to be pushed to the user as a function of user movement.

15. The method of claim 14 further comprising selecting targeted advertisements to be pushed to the user as a function of direction of the user movement.

16. The method of claim 13 further comprising selecting the targeted advertisements as a function of user demographics.

17. The method of claim 13 further comprising selecting the targeted advertisements to be pushed to the user as a function of user profile information.

18. A method implemented by a computer-based search engine, comprising:

receiving GPS based information related to location of a user; and

transmitting an advertisement to the user as a function of the GPS based information.

19. The method of claim 18 further comprising selecting the advertisement to be transmitted to the user as a function of at least one of a profile or demographic of the user.

20. A method implemented by a computer-based search engine, comprising:

receiving an Internet based search query from a user;

receiving information related to physical location of the user; and

wirelessly pushing an Internet based advertisement to be displayed on a mobile device operated by the user wherein the advertisement is selected at least in part upon the physical location of the user.
