Abstract

A printing apparatus includes a receiving unit for receiving a print request from an information device, a transmitting unit for, upon receiving the print request, transmitting address information of a server and identification information of the printing apparatus to the information device, and a printing unit for carrying out printing based on print data received from the information device via the server.

Claims

1. A printing apparatus comprising:

a receiving unit adapted to receive a print request from an information device;

a transmitting unit adapted to, upon receiving the print request from the information device, transmit address information of a server and identification information of the printing apparatus to the information device; and

a printing unit adapted to carry out printing based on print data received from the information device via the server.

2. The printing apparatus according to claim 1, wherein the receiving unit and the transmitting unit carry out receiving and transmitting processes via short range wireless communication.

3. The printing apparatus according to claim 1, wherein the receiving unit and the transmitting unit carry out receiving and transmitting processes via e-mail.

4. The printing apparatus according to claim 1, wherein the transmitting unit transmits an e-mail including the address of the server as a reply address.

5. The printing apparatus according to claim 1, wherein the printing unit executes a print process in response to a user input of a password that matches a password received from the information device via the server.

6. A method for printing comprising:

a receiving step for receiving a print request from an information device;

a transmitting step for, upon receiving the print request, transmitting address information of a server and identification information of a printing apparatus for a print process to the information device; and

a printing step for carrying out printing based on print data received from the information device via the server.

7. The method for printing according to claim 6, wherein the receiving step and the transmitting step carry out receiving and transmitting processes via short range wireless communication.

8. The method for printing according to claim 6, wherein the receiving step and the transmitting step carry out receiving and transmitting processes via e-mail.

9. The method for printing according to claim 6, wherein the transmitting step transmits an e-mail including the address of the server as a reply address.

10. The method for printing according to claim 6, wherein the printing step executes a print process in response to a user input of a password that matches a password received from the information device via the server.

11. A printing system for printing based on a print request sent from an information device, the printing system comprising:

a printing apparatus; and

a server;

wherein the printing apparatus comprises;

a first receiving unit adapted to receive the print request from the mobile information device;

a first transmitting unit adapted to, upon receiving the print request, transmit address information of the server and identification information of the printing apparatus to the information device; and

a printing unit adapted to carry out printing based on print data received from the mobile information device via the server;

and wherein the server comprises;

a second receiving unit adapted to receive print data from the information device; and

a second transmitting unit adapted to transmit, to the printing apparatus, created print data created based on the print data received from the information device.

The printing system according to claim 11, wherein the first transmitting unit transmits identification information of the printing apparatus to the server via the information device, and the second transmitting unit transmits, to the printing apparatus, print data converted by a print driver for the printing apparatus in accordance with the identification information of the printing apparatus.
