Abstract

A system and method for providing an interactive group chat involving a plurality of participants and a business process, comprising, initiating the business process to coordinate the plurality of participants; determining the plurality of participants based on dynamic evaluation of a role, wherein the role is based on presence information for the plurality of participants; joining each one of the plurality of participants into the group chat; distributing a message from one of the plurality of participants to the others; and wherein the plurality of participants can co-navigate a web page.

Claims

1. A method for providing an interactive group chat involving a plurality of participants and a business process, comprising:

initiating the business process to coordinate the plurality of participants;

determining the plurality of participants based on dynamic evaluation of a role, wherein the role is based on presence information for the plurality of participants;

joining each one of the plurality of participants into the group chat;

distributing a message from one of the plurality of participants to the others; and

wherein the plurality of participants can co-navigate a web page.

2. The method of claim 1 wherein:

the business process allows the plurality of participants to interact with one or more enterprise business systems.

3. The method of claim 1 wherein:

the role is based on status information of the plurality of participants.

4. The method of claim 1 wherein:

each one of the plurality of participants can access a shared state through which information can be shared among them.

5. The method of claim 1 wherein:

at least one of the plurality of participants is integrated with a process capable of web browsing.

6. The method of claim 1, further comprising:

dynamically adding participants to the group chat based on evaluation of the role.

7. The method of claim 1 wherein:

the role can include one or more arithmetic and logical expressions.

8. The method of claim 1 wherein the step of joining includes:

inviting each one of the plurality of participants into the group chat; and

receiving a positive or a negative response to each invitation.

9. A system for providing an interactive group chat, comprising:

a plurality of participants, each of which including a first messaging layer;

a business process including a second messaging layer, wherein the second messaging layer is capable of exchanging messages with each of the first messaging layers; and

a role capable of dynamically determining the plurality of participants, wherein the role is based on presence information for the plurality of participants;

wherein the business process is capable of determining the plurality of participants based on evaluation of the role;

wherein the business process is capable of joining each one of the plurality of participants into the group chat; and

wherein the plurality of participants can co-navigate a web page.

10. The system of claim 9 wherein:

the business process is capable of distributing a message from one of the plurality of participants to the others.

11. The system of claim 9 wherein:

the business process allows the plurality of participants to interact with one or more enterprise business systems.

12. The system of claim 9 wherein:

the role is based on status information of the plurality of participants.

13. The system of claim 9 wherein:

each one of the plurality of participants can access a shared state through which information can be shared among them.

14. The system of claim 9, further comprising:

a web browser which is integrated with at least one of the plurality of participants.

15. The system of claim 9 wherein:

participants can be added dynamically to the group chat based on evaluation of the role.

16. The system of claim 9 wherein:

the role can include one or more arithmetic and logical expressions.

17. The system of claim 9 wherein:

the business process is capable of inviting each one of the plurality of participants into the group chat and receiving a positive or a negative response to each invitation.

18. A machine readable medium having instructions stored thereon that when executed by one or more processors cause a system to:

initiate the business process to coordinate the plurality of participants;

determine the plurality of participants based on dynamic evaluation of a role, wherein the role is based on presence information for the plurality of participants;

join each one of the plurality of participants into the group chat;

distribute a message from one of the plurality of participants to the others; and

wherein the plurality of participants can co-navigate a web page.

19. The machine readable medium of claim 18 wherein:

the business process allows the plurality of participants to interact with one or more enterprise business systems.

20. The machine readable medium of claim 18 wherein:

the role is based on status information of the plurality of participants.

21. The machine readable medium of claim 18 wherein:

each one of the plurality of participants can access a shared state through which information can be shared among them.

22. The machine readable medium of claim 18 wherein:

at least one of the plurality of participants is integrated with a process capable of web browsing.

23. The machine readable medium of claim 18, further comprising instructions that when executed cause the system to:

dynamically add participants to the group chat based on evaluation of the role.

24. The machine readable medium of claim 18 wherein:

the role can include one or more arithmetic and logical expressions.

25. The machine readable medium of claim 18 further comprising instructions that when executed cause the system to:

invite each one of the plurality of participants into the group chat; and

receive a positive or a negative response to each invitation.

26. A computer data signal embodied in a transmission medium, comprising:

a code segment including instructions for initiating the business process to coordinate the plurality of participants;

a code segment including instructions for determining the plurality of participants based on dynamic evaluation of a role, wherein the role is based on presence information for the plurality of participants;

a code segment including instructions for joining each one of the plurality of participants into the group chat;

a code segment including instructions for distributing a message from one of the plurality of participants to the others; and

wherein the plurality of participants can co-navigate a web page.
