Abstract

In accordance with one or more embodiments of the present invention, a driving portion of a display device is formed on the same plane as a display portion of a display device. The driving portion includes cumulative layers of a control electrode, a first insulating layer, a semiconductor layer, a second insulating layer, an input electrode, an output electrode, and an auxiliary layer on top of the layers. Thus, the transistors within the driving portion may be more compact, while possibly reducing the likelihood of a short circuit between the electrodes.

Claims

1. A driving circuit of a display device, the driving circuit having a plurality of interconnected stages for transmitting sequential output signals, each of the stages comprising:

a driving portion which transmits the output signal according to an input signal and a clock signal; and

a discharging portion, which discharges a voltage charged in the driving portion, wherein the driving portion comprises;

a control electrode;

a first insulating layer on the control electrode;

a semiconductor layer on the first insulating layer;

an input electrode at least partially disposed on the semiconductor layer;

an output electrode at least partially disposed on the semiconductor layer and over the control electrode;

a second insulating layer on the input electrode and the output electrode; and

an auxiliary electrode disposed on the second insulating layer, connected to the control electrode, and overlapping the output electrode.

2. The driving circuit of claim 1, wherein each of the input electrode and the output electrode comprises a plurality of branches, interposed to each other;

and

the output electrode further comprises an extension portion which is connected to the branches and overlapped with the auxiliary electrode.

3. The driving circuit of claim 2, wherein the branches of the output electrode and the input electrode are interdigitated.

4. The driving circuit of claim 2, wherein the first insulating layer and the second insulating layer comprise contact holes for exposing the control electrode and wherein the auxiliary electrode is connected to the control electrode via at least one of the contact holes.

5. The driving circuit of claim 4, wherein the auxiliary electrode comprises a transparent conductive material.

6. The driving circuit of claim 5, wherein the auxiliary electrode comprises at least one of an ITO and an IZO.

7. The driving circuit of claim 4, wherein a capacitance between the control electrode and the output electrode is greater than a capacitance between the control electrode and the input electrode.

8. The driving circuit of claim 1, wherein the semiconductor layer comprises an amorphous silicon.

9. The driving circuit of claim 8, wherein the driving portion is formed on the display device.

10. The driving circuit of claim 1, wherein the display device is selected from a group of a Liquid Crystal Display and an Organic Light Emitting Display.

11. A display plate of a display device, the display plate comprising:

a gate line having a plurality of first control electrodes on the display plate;

a second control electrode being separated from the first control electrodes on the display plate;

a first insulating layer formed on the gate line and the second control electrodes;

a first semiconductor layer located on the first insulating layer and over the first control electrodes;

a second semiconductor layer located on the first insulating layer and over the second control electrode;

a data line having a plurality of first input electrodes, each of the first input electrodes having a portion for contacting with the first semiconductor layer and being located on the first insulating layer;

a plurality of a first output electrodes, each of the first output electrodes having a contact portion with the first semiconductor layer and being separated from the data line;

a second input electrode portion having a contact portion with the second semiconductor layer;

a second output electrode having a contact portion with the second semiconductor layer, separated from the second input electrode, overlapping the second control electrode, and electrically connected to the gate lines;

a second insulating layer disposed on the data lines, the first output electrodes, the second input electrode, and the second output electrode;

a pixel electrode disposed on the second insulating layer and connected to one of the first output electrodes; and

an auxiliary electrode disposed on the second insulating layer, connected to the second control electrode, and overlapping the second output electrode.

12. The display plate of claim 11, wherein the second input electrode comprises a set of first branches and the second output electrode comprises a set of second branches, the first branches interposed with the second branches;

and

the second output electrode further comprising an expansion portion connected to the second set of branches and at least partially disposed between the second control electrode and the auxiliary electrode.

13. The display plate of claim 12, wherein the first and second branches are interdigitated.

14. The display plate of claim 12, wherein the first insulating layer and the second insulating layer comprise a contact hole for coupling the second control electrode to the auxiliary electrode.

15. The display plate of claim 14, wherein the auxiliary electrode comprises a transparent conductive material.

16. The display plate of claim 15, wherein the auxiliary electrode comprises at least one of an ITO and an IZO.

17. The display plate of claim 16, wherein a capacitance between the second control electrode and the second output electrode is greater than a capacitance between the second control electrode and the second input electrode.

18. The display plate of claim 11, wherein the semiconductor comprises an amorphous silicon.

19. A method of providing a display driver, the method comprising:

providing a control electrode;

providing a first insulating layer on the control electrode;

providing a semiconductor layer on the first insulating layer;

providing an input electrode at least partially disposed on the semiconductor layer;

providing an output electrode at least partially disposed on the semiconductor layer and over the control electrode;

providing a second insulating layer on the input electrode and the output electrode; and

providing an auxiliary electrode disposed on the second insulating layer, connected to the control electrode, and overlapping the output electrode.

20. The method of claim 19, wherein each of the input electrode and output electrode forms a plurality of branches, interposed with each other, with a portion of the output electrode connected to the branches and overlapped with the auxiliary electrode.

21. The method of claim 20, wherein the branches of the input electrode and the output electrode are interdigitated.

22. The method of claim 20, further comprising providing contact holes in the first and second insulating layers to expose the control electrode, wherein the auxiliary electrode is connected to the control electrode via at least one of the contact holes.

23. The method of claim 19, further comprising providing a capacitance between the control electrode and the output electrode to be greater than a capacitance between the control electrode and the input electrode.

24. The method of claim 19, further comprising forming the display driver as a part of a display device.

25. A method of providing a display plate for a display, the method comprising:

providing a gate line having a plurality of first control electrodes on the display plate;

providing a second control electrode separated from the first control electrodes on the display plate;

providing a first insulating layer on the gate line and the second control electrode;

providing a first semiconductor layer on the first insulating layer and over the first control electrodes;

providing a second semiconductor layer on the first insulating layer and over the second control electrode;

providing a data line having a plurality of first input electrodes, each of the first input electrodes having a portion for contacting with the first semiconductor layer and being located on the first insulating layer;

providing a plurality of first output electrodes, each of the first output electrodes having a contact portion with the first semiconductor layer and separated from the data line;

providing a second input electrode portion having a contact portion with the second semiconductor layer;

providing a second output electrode having a contact portion with the second semiconductor layer, the second output electrode separated from the second input electrode, overlapping the second control electrode, and electrically connected to the gate line;

providing a second insulating layer disposed on the data line, the first output electrodes, the second input electrode, and the second output electrode;

providing a pixel electrode disposed on the second insulating layer and connected to one of the first output electrodes; and

providing an auxiliary electrode disposed on the second insulating layer, connected to the second control electrode, and overlapping the second output electrode.

26. The method of claim 25, wherein each of the second input electrode and the second output electrode forms a plurality of branches, interposed with each other, with a portion of the second output electrode connected to the branches and at least partially disposed between the second control electrode and the auxiliary electrode.

27. The method of claim 26, wherein the branches of the input electrode and the output electrode are interdigitated.

28. The method of claim 25, further comprising providing contact holes in the first and second insulating layers to connect the control electrode to the auxiliary electrode.

29. The method of claim 25, wherein a capacitance between the second control electrode and the second output electrode is greater than a capacitance between the second control electrode and the first control electrode.
