Abstract

A system (20) for providing a caller identification with name service includes a destination service switching point (22) having a plurality of destination numbers (24). A switching control point (26) has a caller identification with name database (30) and a customer caller identification with name database (32). A signaling system seven link (28) connects the destination service switching point (22) to the switching control point (26).

21. A method of providing access to an information network, comprising the steps of:

a) triggering on a plurality of calls initiated by a plurality of computers at a plurality of central offices; and

b) forwarding the plurality of calls to a hub switch.

22. The method of claim 21, wherein step (a) further includes the step of:

a1) transmitting a query to a service control point.

23. The method of claim 22, further including the step of:

a2) receiving a response from the service control point.

24. The method of claim 23, further including the step of:

a3) routing one of the plurality of calls based on the response.

25. The method of claim 21, further including the steps of:

d) merging the plurality of calls to form a data stream.

26. The method of claim 25, further including the steps of:

e) forwarding the data stream to an information network access node.

27. A method of providing access to an information network, comprising the steps of:

a) trigger on a call;

b) when a trigger type is a custom dialing plan access code, determining a destination number at a service control point;

c) routing the call to a hub switch; and

d) aggregating the call with a plurality of calls to form a data stream.

28. The method of claim 27, wherein step (a) further includes the step of:

a1) receiving the call from one of a plurality of centrex telephone numbers at a central office.

29. The method of claim 28, further including the step of:

a2) transmitting an information analyzed message to the service control point.

30. The method of claim 29, further including the step of:

a3) determining the trigger type at the service control point;

31. The method of claim 27, further including the steps of:

e) forwarding the data stream to an information network access node.

32. The method of claim 27, wherein step (b) further includes the step of:

b1) forwarding the destination number to the central office.

33. The method of claim 27, wherein step (b) further includes the steps of:

b1) looking-up a record in a translation table;

d2) when the record cannot be found, determining an error has occurred.
