- a skin piercing element;
at least one analyte sensing chamber; and
a pumping chamber having a deflectable membrane, wherein said pumping chamber is capable of transporting a volume of fluid, collected in said pumping chamber from said skin piercing element, to said at least one analyte sensing chamber upon deflection of said deflectable membrane.
