1. A radar-based distance measurement apparatus comprising:

  • a microwave circuit comprising a frequency generator which produces a microwave frequency signal having a frequency which is modulated by an amount determined by a modulation signal applied to said frequency generator, a temperature sensor which outputs a temperature measurement of at least a part of said microwave circuit, a compensator for compensating for errors in said output of said temperature sensor to produce a compensated temperature signal using information derived from said drive signal and an echo signal detected by a microwave detector; and

    a frequency regulator which is adapted to receive said compensated temperature signal and to regulate said frequency of said signal generated by said frequency generator, thereby at least partially correcting for the effect of changes in temperature of the frequency generator.
