Apparatus and method for moving contents having a restricted number of copies between storage media
First Claim
1. A method of managing content, comprising the steps of:
- (a) judging whether the content can be moved to an external entity based on a moving control information, the moving control information being different from a copy control information indicating whether the copy of content is permitted;
(b) determining whether an authentication with the external entity is needed in order to move the content to the external entity, if the content can be moved as a result of step (a); and
(c) controlling the moving operation to the external entity such that the content can be moved to the external entity without the authentication if the authentication is not needed as a result of step (b), while the content can be moved to the external entity only when the authentication is successful if the authentication is needed as a result of step (b).

Abstract
An apparatus for moving contents includes an input unit for inputting the contents and a control unit for controlling the movement of the contents between storage media by analyzing a copy control code of the contents. The method for moving contents includes the steps of analyzing a copy control code of the contents when a user desires to move the contents from a first storage medium to a second storage medium and storing the contents in the second storage medium by converting the copy control code of the contents according to the result of analysis, thereby providing improved convenience to the user as long as copyrights are not infringed by storing the stored contents in the second storage medium.

11. A method for managing content, comprising the steps of:
-
determining whether digital content can be moved to another entity based on a moving control information if a command for moving the digital content to another entity is received, the moving control information being distinguished from a copy control information indicating whether the copy of content is permitted;
performing an authentication with the other entity using a key value if the content can be moved; and
controlling whether to move the content to the other entity based on a result of performing step. - View Dependent Claims (12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17)

18. A method of managing content, comprising the steps of:
-
(a) judging whether the content can be moved to an external entity based on a moving control information, the moving control information being different from a copy control information indicating whether the copy of content is permitted;
(b) determining whether a communication is possible with the external entity through an interface, if the content can be moved as a result of step (a); and
(c) controlling the moving operation to the external entity such that the content can be moved to the external entity if the communication is possible as a result of step (b), while the content can not be moved to the external entity if the communication is not possible. - View Dependent Claims (19, 20, 21, 22)

-
(a) judging whether the content can be moved to an external entity based on a moving control information, the moving control information being different from a copy control information indicating whether the copy of content is permitted;
(b) determining whether to perform an authentication with the external entity in order to move the content to the external entity, if the content can be moved as a result of step (a); and
(c) controlling the moving operation to the external entity such that the content can be moved to the external entity without the authentication if the authentication is not performed as a result of step (b), while the content can be moved to the external entity only when the authentication is successful if the authentication is performed as a result of step (b). - View Dependent Claims (24, 25)

26. An apparatus for managing content, comprising:
-
a storage unit storing the content; and
a controller judging whether the stored content can be moved to an external entity based on a moving control information, the moving control information being different from a copy control information indicating whether the copy of content is permitted, determining whether an authentication with the external entity is needed in order to move the content to the external entity, if the content can be moved as a result of the judgment, and controlling the moving operation to the external entity such that the content can be moved to the external entity without the authentication if the authentication is not needed as a result of determination, while the content can be moved to the external entity only when the authentication is successful if the authentication is needed as a result of determination. - View Dependent Claims (27, 28, 29, 30, 31, 32)
