Abstract

This disclosure provides a system and method for summarizing jobs for a user group. In one embodiment, a job manager is operable to identify a state of a first job, the first job associated with a first job scheduler. A state of a second job is identified. The second job is associated with a second job scheduler. The first job scheduler and the second job scheduler are heterogeneous. A summary of information associated with at least the first job scheduler and the second job scheduler is determined using, at least in part, the first job state and the second job state. The summary is presented to a user though a dashboard.

Claims

1. A job manager operable to:

identify a state of a first job, the first job associated with a first job scheduler;

identify a state of a second job, the second job associated with a second job scheduler, wherein the first job scheduler and the second job scheduler are heterogeneous;

determine a summary of information associated with at least the first job scheduler and the second job scheduler using, at least in part, the first job state and the second job state; and

present the summary to a user through a dashboard.

2. The job manager of claim 1, each job state comprising one of a normalized property of success, failure, running, or other.

3. The job manager of claim 1 further operable to:

identify a state of a first alert, the first alert associated with a first job scheduler; and

identify a state of a second alert, the second alert associated with a second job scheduler, the summary further based on the first alert state and the fourth property.

4. The job manager of claim 3, each alert state comprising one of a normalized property of critical, high, medium, low, open, acknowledge, or closed.

5. The job manager of claim 3, the summary comprising a percentage of each job state in accordance with a total number of jobs and a percentage of each alert state in accordance with a total number of alerts.

6. The job manager of claim 1, further operable to:

identify a filter comprising criteria for selecting a severity level;

determine a match with the filter based, at least in part, on one or more criteria of the filter and the summary; and

in response to determining the match, associate the severity level value with the summary in accordance with the filter.

7. The job manager of claim 6, the severity level comprising one of running, low, medium, high, or critical.

8. A method for filtering jobs, comprising:

identifying a state of a first job, the first job associated with a first job scheduler;

identifying a state of a second job, the second job associated with a second job scheduler, wherein the first job scheduler and the second job scheduler are heterogeneous;

determining a summary of information associated with at least the first job scheduler and the second job scheduler using, at least in part, the first job state and the second job state; and

presenting the summary to a user.

9. The method of claim 8, each job state comprising one of a normalized property of success, failure, running, or other.

10. The method of claim 8, further comprising:

identifying a state of a first alert, the first alert associated with a first job scheduler; and

identifying a state of a second alert, the second alert associated with a second job scheduler, the summary further based on the first alert state and the fourth property.

11. The method of claim 10, each alert state comprising one of a normalized property of critical, high, medium, low, open, acknowledge, or closed.

12. The method of claim 10, the summary comprising a percentage of each job state in accordance with a total number of jobs and a percentage of each alert state in accordance with a total number of alerts.

13. The method of claim 8, further comprising:

identifying a filter comprising criteria for selecting a severity level;

determining a match with the filter based, at least in part, on one or more criteria of the filter and the summary; and

in response to determining the match, associating the severity level value with the summary in accordance with the filter.

14. The method of claim 13, the severity level comprising one of running, low, medium, high, or critical.

15. A system for filtering jobs, comprising:

memory storing a dashboard operable to present information from a plurality of operating environments;

one or more processors operable to;

identify a state of a first job, the first job associated with a first job scheduler;

identify a state of a second job, the second job associated with a second job scheduler, wherein the first job scheduler and the second job scheduler are heterogeneous;

determine a summary of the information associated with at least the first job scheduler and the second job scheduler using, at least in part, the first job state and the second job state; and

present the summary to a user through the dashboard.

16. The system of claim 15, each job state comprising one of a normalized property of success, failure, running, or other.

17. The system of claim 15, the one or more processors further operable to:

identify a state of a first alert, the first alert associated with a first job scheduler; and

identify a state of a second alert, the second alert associated with a second job scheduler, the summary of the information further based on the first alert state and the fourth property.

18. The system of claim 15, each alert state comprising one of a normalized property of critical, high, medium, low, open, acknowledge, or closed.

19. The system of claim 18, the summary comprising a percentage of each job state in accordance with a total number of jobs and a percentage of each alert state in accordance with a total number of alerts.

20. The system of claim 15, the one or more processors further operable to:

identify a filter comprising criteria for selecting a severity level;

determine a match with the filter based, at least in part, on one or more criteria of the filter and the summary; and

in response to determining the match, associate the severity level value with the summary in accordance with the filter.

21. The system of claim 20, the severity level comprising one of running, low, medium, high, or critical.
