Abstract

A computer implemented method is provided for directing region-specific information. The method receives information relating to location of users, and provides location-specific information to the users.

Claims

1. A computer implemented method that facilitates Internet based searching, comprising:

receiving a user search query;

receiving global positioning system information related to current location of the user; and

limiting search results to the user as a function of the current user location.

3. The method of claim 1, further comprising receiving a geographic range from the user to limit search results, wherein the search results are associated with the geographic range.

4. The method of claim 3 further comprising identifying merchants conducting business within the geographic range and providing content associated with a subset of the merchants to the user as part of the search results.

6. The method of claim 1 further comprising limiting the search results as a function of user demographics.

7. The method of claim 1 further comprising limiting the search results as a function of user preferences.

2. The method of claim 2 further comprising updating search results provided to the user based on change in location of the user.

5. The method of claim 5 further comprising presenting location specific advertising to the user as part of the search results.

8. A computer implemented method that facilitates Internet based searching, comprising:

receiving a user search query that includes geographic restriction information; and

filtering search results to the user as a function of the geographic restriction information.

9. The method of claim 8 further comprising searchable content with geographic tags.

10. The method of claim 8 further comprising presenting search results to a user that are bounded by the geographic restriction information.

11. The method of claim 8 further comprising receiving updates to the geographic restriction information and modifying search results presented to a user based in part on the updated geographic restriction information.

12. The method of claim 8 further comprising dynamically pushing updated search results to a user as a function of user movement and location.

13. The method of claim 8 further comprising associating respective geographic region identifiers with websites.

14. The method of claim 8 further comprising limiting search results presented to a user as a function of zip code.

15. A computer implemented method that facilitates information delivery, comprising:

receiving information regarding location of a user; and

dynamically pushing information to be presented to the user on a computing device as a function of proximate user location.

16. The method of claim 15 further comprising employing a global positioning system in connection with receiving the user location information.

17. The method of claim 15 further comprising receiving information directly from the user regarding his/her location.

18. The method of claim 15 further comprising pushing new information to the user as a function of user movement.

19. The method of claim 15 further comprising pushing the information to the user as a function of user demographics.

20. A computer readable medium having stored thereon computer executable instructions for carrying out the acts of claim 15.
