1. A system for managing data, said system comprising:
- a network for interconnecting a plurality of computers;
data storage means connected to said network to receive, store and transmit a plurality of files to and from said network, each of said plurality of files having a unique identifier associated therewith; and
a plurality of computers each connected to said network, each of said plurality of computers being configured for originating and for receiving said plurality of files, a first computer of said plurality of computers being operable to send a first file of said plurality of files to said data storage means for storage, one of said data storage means and said first computer of said plurality of computers being operable to generate and send said unique identifier of said first file to at least said first computer and a second computer of said plurality of computers, and said first computer and said second computer each being operable retrieve said file from said data storage means using said unique identifier.

Abstract
A system and method for managing data is provided. The system includes a network for interconnecting a plurality of computers. A data storage means is connected to the network to receive, store and transmit a plurality of files to and from the network. A plurality of computers is also connected to the network. Each computer is configured for originating and for receiving files. Each of the files has a unique identifier associated therewith. Each computer may retrieve a file from the data storage means using the unique identifier.

a plurality of computers each connected to said network, each of said plurality of computers being configured for originating and for receiving said plurality of files, a first computer of said plurality of computers being operable to send a first file of said plurality of files to said data storage means for storage, one of said data storage means and said first computer of said plurality of computers being operable to generate and send said unique identifier of said first file to at least said first computer and a second computer of said plurality of computers, and said first computer and said second computer each being operable retrieve said file from said data storage means using said unique identifier.

a network for interconnecting a plurality of computers;
data storage means connected to said network to receive, store and transmit a plurality of files to and from said network, each of said plurality of files having a unique identifier associated therewith;
a plurality of computers each connected to said network, each of said plurality of computers being configured for originating and for receiving said plurality of files, a first computer of said plurality of computers being operable to send a first file of said plurality of files to said data storage means for storage, one of said data storage means and said first computer of said plurality of computers being operable to generate and send said unique identifier of said first file to at least said first computer and a second computer of said plurality of computers, and said first computer and said second computer each being operable retrieve said file from said data storage means using said unique identifier;
an engine means connected to said data storage means and to said network;
program means positioned in one of said data storage means and said engine, said program means being configured to receive said unique identifier of each said file and to cause said file to be in said data storage means by said unique identifier and by said address location, and said program means being operable to transmit said unique identifier of each of said files to said second computer as directed by said first computer.

3. A method for managing data, the method comprising:

providing a network for interconnecting a plurality of computers;
connecting a data storage means to said network to receive, store and transmit a plurality of files to and from said network, each of said plurality of files having a unique identifier associated therewith; and
connecting a plurality of computers to said network, each of said plurality of computers being configured for originating and for receiving said plurality of files, a first computer of said plurality of computers being operable to send a first file of said plurality of files to said data storage means for storage, one of said data storage means and said first computer of said plurality of computers being operable to generate and send said unique identifier of said first file to at least said first computer and a second computer of said plurality of computers, and said first computer and said second computer each being operable retrieve said file from said data storage means using said unique identifier.

4. A method for managing data, the method comprising:

providing a network for interconnecting a plurality of computers;
interconnecting a plurality of computers to said network, each of said plurality of computers being configured for originating and for receiving files having meta data associated therewith, a first computer of said plurality of computers being operable to send said files to storage and to another of said plurality of computers, and said first computer being operable to assign an address location for each of said files originated;
coupling a data storage means to said network to store data including said files originated by said first computer of said plurality of computers;
connecting an engine to said data storage means and to said network, said engine adapted to receive and to supply files; and
providing a program means in one of said data storage means and said engine, said program means being configured to receive said meta data of each said file and to cause said file to be in said data storage means by said meta data and by said address location, and said program means being operable to transmit said meta data of each of said files to another computer of said plurality of computers as directed by said first computer.
