Abstract

A system and method for handoff are provided. A mobile station performs a make-before-break handoff of a control channel between a serving and target base station and a break-before-make handoff of a traffic channel between the serving and target base stations. The traffic channel handoff is performed after the control channel handoff has completed.

Claims

1. A personalized memorial comprising:

a. a member,

b. a cavity extending into said member,

c. means for retaining cremation ashes from a deceased living being in said cavity,

d. one or more markings comprising images, pictures, graphics, or human-readable indicia permanently marked on the surface of said member,

whereby said personalized memorial provides a complete memorial to said deceased living being in an aesthetically pleasing form.

2. The personalized memorial of claim 1 further comprising:

a. a plurality of said cavity,

b. means for retaining cremation ashes from a plurality of deceased living beings in said cavities,

whereby said personalized memorial provides a complete memorial to said plurality of deceased living beings in an aesthetically pleasing form.

3. The personalized memorial of claim 1 further comprising:

a. electronic enhancement comprising lighting, a sound source, a video display unit, or any other electrically-powered device,

b. means for placing and retaining said electronic enhancement on the surface or interior of said member,

whereby said personalized memorial is enhanced.

4. The personalized memorial of claim 1 further comprising means to support said member, with said means allowing access to said cavity, whereby said personalized memorial can be displayed in an upright or other desired position.

5. The personalized memorial of claim 4 further comprising one or more markings comprising images, pictures, graphics, or human-readable indicia, permanently marked on the surface of said means to support said member.

6. The personalized memorial of claim 4 further comprising:

a. a non-electric light source,

b. means for placing and retaining said non-electric light source on or in said means to support said member,

whereby said personalized memorial is enhanced with non-electric lighting in an aesthetically pleasing form.

7. The personalized memorial of claim 1 wherein said member is formed as a three-dimensional object pertinent to life of said deceased living being, whereby said personalized memorial better aids the memorialization of said deceased living being.

8. The personalized memorial of claim 1 wherein:

a. said member comprises a substantially transparent material,

b. one or more markings comprising images, pictures, graphics, or human-readable indicia, said markings being permanently marked on the surface or the interior of said member,

whereby said personalized memorial takes on an aesthetically pleasing transparent form.

9. The personalized memorial of claim 8 further comprising one or more objects pertinent to life of said deceased living being embedded in said member, whereby said personalized memorial better aids the memorialization of said deceased living being.

10. A personalized memorial comprising:

a. a member,

b. a base, said base having an upper surface,

c. means for joining said base to said member,

d. means for placing and retaining a vessel containing cremation ashes from a deceased living being on said upper surface of said base,

e. one or more markings comprising images, pictures, graphics, or human-readable indicia, permanently marked on the surface of said member,

whereby said personalized memorial provides display of said vessel and a complete memorial to said deceased living being in an aesthetically pleasing form.

11. The personalized memorial of claim 10 further comprising:

a. a plurality of said vessels containing cremation ashes from a plurality of deceased living beings,

b. means for placing and retaining said vessels on said upper surface of said base,

whereby said personalized memorial provides display of said vessels and a complete memorial to said plurality of deceased living beings in an aesthetically pleasing form.

12. The personalized memorial of claim 10 further comprising:

a. electronic enhancement comprising lighting, a sound source, a video display unit or any other electrically-powered device,

b. means for placing and retaining said electronic enhancement on the surface or interior to said member,

whereby said personalized memorial is enhanced.

13. The personalized memorial of claim 10 further comprising:

a. a non-electric light source,

b. means for placing and retaining said non-electric light source on or in said base,

whereby said personalized memorial is enhanced with non-electric lighting in an aesthetically pleasing form.

14. The personalized memorial of claim 10 wherein said member is formed as a three-dimensional object pertinent to life of said deceased living being, whereby said personalized memorial better aids the memorialization of said deceased living being.

15. The personalized memorial of claim 10 wherein:

a. said member comprises a substantially transparent material,

b. one or more markings comprising images, pictures, graphics, or human-readable indicia, said markings being permanently marked on the surface or the interior of said member,

whereby said personalized memorial takes on an aesthetically pleasing transparent form.

16. The personalized memorial of claim 15 further comprising one or more objects pertinent to life of said deceased living being embedded in said member, whereby said personalized memorial better aids the memorialization of said deceased living being.

17. A method of memorializing deceased living beings, comprising:

a. drilling a plurality of cavities into a member,

b. marking said member with one or more permanent marks comprising images, pictures, graphics, or human-readable indicia,

c. inserting a containers with cremation ashes from said deceased living beings into said cavities,

d. retaining said containers in said cavities,

whereby said method provides a personalized memorial of said deceased living beings in an aesthetically pleasing form.

18. The method of claim 17 further comprising:

a. attaching a base with an upper surface to said member,

b. mounting said containers on said upper surface,

whereby said method allows display of said containers as part of a said personalized memorial in an aesthetically pleasing form.

19. The method of claim 18 further comprising placing and retaining a non-electric light source on said base, whereby said personalized memorial is enhanced with lighting in an aesthetically pleasing form.

20. The method of claim 17 further comprising placing and retaining electronic enhancement consisting of lighting, a sound source, a video display unit or any other electrically-powered device, on said personalized memorial, whereby said personalized memorial is enhanced in an aesthetically pleasing form.
