Abstract

A system and method are provided for managing data being displayed on at least one monitor screen based on monitoring user'"'"'s attention in relation to the monitor screen. In one embodiment, upon detecting that the user'"'"'s attention is leaving at least a portion of a screen, the system may alert the user of such an event. Alternatively, the system could alert the user upon detecting a triggering condition while the user'"'"'s attention is away from the at least a portion of the screen. The step of alerting the user may include modifying at least a portion of a display on a monitor not being viewed by the user. Additionally, the system may initiate preparation of a report including any data not being viewed by a user during the time period when the user is not viewing a portion of the monitor.

Claims

1. A method for management of data displays based on user'"'"'s attention data, the method comprising:

displaying data on at least one display unit;

monitoring a user'"'"'s attention in relation to the at least one display unit;

detecting the user'"'"'s attention shifting from the at least a portion of the at least one display unit; and

alerting the user with respect to the at least one display unit.

2. A computer readable medium having stored therein instructions to execute the method of claim 1.

3. The method of claim 1, wherein alerting the user comprises modifying the at least the portion of the at least one display unit.

4. The method of claim 3, wherein modifying the at least the portion of the at least one display unit comprises enhancing the at least the portion of the at least one display unit.

5. The method of claim 3, wherein the enhancing comprises changing colors.

6. The method of claim 3, wherein the enhancing comprises changing a size of at least one window being displayed on the at least the portion of the at least one display unit.

7. The method of claim 3, wherein modifying the at least the portion of the at least one display unit comprises minimizing at least one window being displayed on the at least the portion of the at least one display unit.

8. The method of claim 1, wherein alerting the user comprises generating an audio signal.

9. The method of claim 1, further comprising:

generating a report comprising data being displayed on the at least the portion of the display unit while the user'"'"'s attention was away from the at least the portion of the display unit.

10. The method of claim 9, further comprising:

providing the report to the user.

11. The method of claim 1, wherein monitoring the user'"'"'s attention comprises monitoring a user'"'"'s gaze position in relation to the at least one display unit.

12. The method of claim 1, wherein monitoring the user'"'"'s attention comprises monitoring window visibility on the at least one display unit.

13. The method of claim 1, wherein the data being displayed on the at least one display unit comprises data being received from at least one electronic exchange and related to at least one tradeable object being traded at the at least one electronic exchange.

14. The method of claim 1, wherein alerting the user comprises alerting the user upon detecting the user'"'"'s attention shifting from the at least a portion of the at least one display unit.

15. The method of claim 1, wherein alerting the user comprises alerting the user upon detecting a condition with respect to data being displayed on the at least one monitor and not being viewed by the user.

16. A method for management of data displays based on user'"'"'s attention data, the method comprising:

displaying data on at least one display unit;

monitoring a user'"'"'s attention in relation to the at least one display unit;

detecting a event indicating that management of the data displayed on the at least one display unit should begin, wherein the event is detected based on detecting that the user'"'"'s attention has shifted from at least a portion of the at least one display unit; and

preparation of a report comprising data being displayed on the at least one display unit while the user'"'"'s attention is away from the at least one display unit.

17. A computer readable medium having stored therein instructions to execute the method of claim 16.

18. The method of claim 16, wherein monitoring of the user'"'"'s attention comprises monitoring a user'"'"'s gaze in relation to the at least one display unit.

19. The method of claim 18, wherein detecting the event comprises detecting the user'"'"'s gaze shifting away from the at least one display unit.

20. The method of claim 18, further comprising:

recording data being displayed on the at least one display unit; and

using the recorded data to generate the report.

21. The method of claim 16, wherein monitoring of the user'"'"'s attention comprises monitoring window visibility on the at least one display unit.

22. The method of claim 21, wherein detecting the event comprises detecting at least a portion of a window not being visible on the at least one display unit.

23. The method of claim 16, further comprising:

providing the report to the user on the at least one display unit.

24. The method of claim 23, further comprising:

providing the report to the user upon detecting a user request.

25. The method of claim 23, further comprising:

providing the report to the user upon detecting the user'"'"'s attention returning back to the at least the portion of the display unit.

26. The method of claim 16, wherein the report is generated based on user-configured rules.

27. The method of claim 16, wherein the report comprises at least one of the textual data, audio data, video data, and graphical data.

28. The method of claim 16, wherein the data comprises data related to a tradeable object being traded in an electronic trading environment.

29. The method of claim 28, wherein the displayed data comprises data related to the tradeable object, and wherein the data is being received from at least one electronic exchange.

30. A method for management of data displays based on user'"'"'s attention data in an electronic trading environment, the method comprising:

displaying data related to at least one tradeable object on at least one display unit, wherein the data is being received from at least one electronic exchange;

monitoring a user'"'"'s attention in relation to the at least one display unit;

detecting a first event indicating that management of the data being displayed on the at least one display unit should begin, wherein the first event is detected based on monitoring of the user'"'"'s attention in relation to the at least one display unit;

recording at least a portion of the data being displayed on the at least one display unit;

detecting a second event indicating that the recording should stop; and

stopping the recording of the at least the portion of the data being displayed on the at least one display unit.

31. A computer readable medium having stored therein instructions to execute the method of claim 30.

32. The method of claim 30, wherein monitoring of the user'"'"'s attention comprises monitoring a user'"'"'s gaze in relation to the at least one display unit, and wherein the first event comprises the user'"'"'s gaze shifting away from the at least one display unit.

33. The method of claim 30, wherein detecting the second event comprises detecting the user'"'"'s gaze returning back to the at least one display unit.

34. The method of claim 30, wherein monitoring the user'"'"'s attention comprises monitoring window visibility on the at least one display unit, and wherein the first event comprises at least one a portion of a window being displayed on the at least one display unit not being visible to the user.

35. The method of claim 34, wherein detecting the second event comprises the at least the portion of the window being again visible to the user.

36. The method of claim 30, further comprising:

generating a report comprising at least a portion of the recorded data.

37. The method of claim 36, further comprising:

providing the report to the user on the at least one display unit upon detecting the second event.

38. The method of claim 36, further comprising:

providing the report to the user on the at least one display unit upon detecting a user request to view the report.

39. The method of claim 36, further comprising:

providing the report to the user via a wireless device.

40. The method of claim 36, wherein the report comprises at least one of textual data, audio data, video data, and graphical data.

41. The method of claim 30, further comprising:

detecting an alert event while recording the data; and

providing an alert signal to the user.

42. The method of claim 41, wherein the alert event is user configurable.

43. The method of claim 41, wherein the alert signal comprises a visual signal.

44. The method of claim 41, wherein the alert signal comprises an audio signal.

45. The method of claim 41, wherein providing an alert signal to the user comprises displaying at least a portion of a window from the at least one display unit not being viewed by the user on a display unit being currently viewed by the user.
