A computer-implemented graphical user interface for displaying and enabling a user to interact with one or more stored multi-relational ontologies, where the one or more ontologies comprise a plurality of assertions, wherein assertions include a first concept, a second concept and a relationship between the first and second concept, and wherein each concept has a concept type and each relationship has a relationship type, the graphical user interface comprising:
- means for selecting a concept for display;
a multi-relational pane for displaying information associated with the selected concept, including;
i) one or more groups of related concepts, where the related concepts are grouped by predetermined characteristics;
ii) identification of the type of relationship for each related concept; and
means for selecting a related concept to display information associated with the selected related concept.
