Abstract

The present invention provides a method of operating a telematics device within a mobile vehicle communication system. The method includes receiving a request to initiate communication and identifying a request type based on the received request. The method further includes associating the identified request type with at least one service type within a service type table, wherein the service type table maps one or more request types to a corresponding service type within the service type table. The method additionally includes determining a service type number based on the corresponding service type. The method may further include providing the determined service type number and out-pulsing the provided service type number. The method may additionally include determining the identified request type does not map to the corresponding service type and out-pulsing the received request to initiate communication.

Claims

1. A method of operating a telematics device within a mobile vehicle communication system, comprising:

receiving a request to initiate communication;

identifying a request type based on the received request;

associating the identified request type with at least one service type within a service type table, the service type table mapping one or more request types to a corresponding service type within the service type table; and

determining a service type number based on the corresponding service type.

2. The method of claim 1, further comprising:

providing the determined service type number; and

out-pulsing the provided service type number.

3. The method of claim 1, further comprising:

determining the identified request type does not map to a corresponding service type; and

out-pulsing the received request to initiate communication.

4. The method of claim 1, wherein the at least one service type table further includes toll-free number references.

5. The method of claim 4, wherein a request to initiate communication with a prearranged dealership includes a request type that is mapped to a service type including toll-free number references.

6. The method of claim 1, wherein the at least one service type table further includes GPS location references.

7. The method of claim 6, wherein a request to initiate communication with a dealership proximate the mobile vehicle includes a request type that is mapped to a service type based on a GPS location reference of the mobile vehicle and the at least one GPS location references.

8. The method of claim 1, wherein the request to initiate communication is selected from the group consisting of:

an information dialing request, a dealership dialing request, a toll-free dialing request, a promotional response request, a dealership proximate the mobile vehicle dialing request, a directory assistance dialing request.

9. The method of claim 1, wherein the service type is selected from the group consisting of:

an information assistance dialing request, a promotional response request, a dealership assistance dialing request.

10. A computer readable medium storing a computer program comprising:

computer readable code for providing a received request to initiate communication;

computer readable code for identifying a request type based on the received request;

computer readable code for associating the identified request type with at least one service type within a service type table, the service type table mapping one or more request types to a corresponding service type within the service type table; and

computer readable code for determining a service type number based on the corresponding service type.

11. The computer readable medium of claim 10, further comprising:

computer readable code for providing the determined service type number; and

computer readable code for out-pulsing the determined service type number.

12. The computer readable medium of claim 10, further comprising:

computer readable code for determining the identified request type does not map to a corresponding service type; and

computer readable code for out-pulsing the received request to initiate communication.

13. The computer readable medium of claim 10, wherein the at least one service type table further includes toll-free number references.

14. The computer readable medium of claim 13, wherein the computer readable code for providing a request to initiate communication with a prearranged dealership includes computer readable code for providing a request type that is mapped to a service type including toll-free number references.

15. The computer readable medium of claim 10, wherein the at least one service type table further includes GPS location references

The computer readable medium of claim 15, wherein the computer readable code for providing the request to initiate communication with a dealership proximate the mobile vehicle includes computer readable code for providing a request type that is mapped to a service type based on a GPS location reference of the mobile vehicle and the at least one GPS location references

17. The computer readable medium of claim 10, wherein the request to initiate communication is selected from the group consisting of:

an information assistance dialing request, a promotional response request, and a dealership assistance dialing request.

18. The computer readable medium of claim 10, wherein the service type number is selected from the group consisting of:

an information assistance dialing request, a promotional response request, and a dealership assistance dialing request

19. A system for operating a telematics device within a mobile vehicle communication system, comprising:

means for receiving a request to initiate communication;

means for identifying a request type based on the received request;

means for associating the identified request type with at least one service type within a service type table, the service type table mapping one or more request types to a corresponding service type within the service type table; and

means for determining a service type number based on the corresponding service type.
