Abstract

An electronic card table and method provides an electronic card game to a plurality of players. The electronic card table includes a table, a plurality of electronic player interaction areas, a central display area and a game computer. The table has a table top with a playing surface. The electronic player interaction areas are located around a periphery of the table top. Each electronic player interaction area provides a player interface for interaction with one of the players. The central display area is located in a central location of the table top for displaying information to the players. The game computer is coupled to the plurality of electronic player interaction areas and the central display area for dealing a hand of the electronic card game composed of electronic cards, displaying the electronic cards on the electronic player interaction areas and/or the central display area, and administering the electronic card game using electronic chips and the electronic cards. The game computer determines a winner from among the players and awards a pot to the winner at the end of the hand.

Claims

1. An electronic card table for providing an electronic card game to a plurality of players, comprising:

a table having a table top with a playing surface;

a plurality of electronic player interaction areas located around a periphery of the table top, each electronic player interaction area providing a player interface for interaction with one of the players;

a central display area located in a central location of the table top for displaying information to the players;

a game computer coupled to the plurality of electronic player interaction areas and the central display for dealing a hand of the electronic card game composed of electronic cards, displaying the electronic cards on the electronic player interface areas and/or the central display area and administering the electronic card game using electronic chips and the electronic cards, and for determining a winner from among the players and awarding a pot to the winner at the end of the hand.

2. A card table, as set forth in claim 1, wherein the game computer in administering the electronic card game administers one or more betting rounds.

3. A card table, as set forth in claim 1, wherein the electronic player interaction areas are implemented using separate display devices.

4. A card table, as set forth in claim 3, wherein the display devices are touchscreen displays.

5. A card table, as set forth in claim 3, wherein the display devices are housed in a computer based module, each computer based module being connected to the game computer.

6. A card table, as set forth in claim 1, the central display area being implemented in a central display device, the card table including a central display computer connected to and for driving the central display device, the central display computer being connected to the game computer.

7. A card table, as set forth in claim 1, the game computer being either located at the card table or located remotely.

8. A card table, as set forth in claim 1, wherein the electronic player interaction areas are implemented using separate display devices, the display devices being housed in a computer based module, the central display area being implemented in a central display device, the card table including a central display computer connected to and for driving the central display device, the game computer being either located at the card table or located remotely, the central display computer and the computer based modules being networked to the game computer.

A method for providing an electronic card game on an electronic card table, the electronic card table having a table, a plurality of electronic player interface areas, a central display area and a game computer, the table has a playing surface, the electronic player interaction areas are located around a periphery of the table top, each electronic player interaction area providing a player interface for interaction with one of the players, the central display area located in a central location of the table top for displaying information to the players, the game computer being coupled to the plurality of electronic player interaction areas, comprising:

dealing a hand of the electronic card game composed of electronic cards;

administering, by the game computer, the electronic card game using the electronic cards and electronic chips; and

,

determining, by the game computer, a winner from among the players and awarding a pot to the winner at the end of the hand.

10. A method, as set forth in claim 9, the step of administering the electronic card game including the step of administering one or more betting rounds.

11. A method, as set forth in claim 10, wherein the step of administering one or more betting rounds includes the step of managing a pot composed of electronic chips.

12. A method, as set forth in claim 9, including the step of allowing the players to purchase electronic chips.

13. A method, as set forth in claim 9, including the step of displaying the electronic cards on the electronic player interface areas and/or the central display area.

14. A method, as set forth in claim 9, wherein the electronic player interaction areas are implemented using separate display devices, the method including the step of providing a user interface on the display devices.

15. A method, as set forth in claim 9, wherein the display devices are touchscreen displays, the method including the step of providing a user interface on the touchscreen display devices.

16. A method, as set forth in claim 9, wherein the electronic player interaction areas are implemented using separate display devices, the display devices being housed in a computer based module, each computer based module being connected to the game computer, the central display area being implemented in a central display device, the card table including a central display computer connected to and for driving the central display device, the game computer being either located at the card table or located remotely, the central display computer and the computer based modules being networked to the game computer, the method including the steps of displaying the electronic cards representing a player'"'"'s hole cards on a respective display device and the electronic cards representing the common cards on the central display device.

17. A system for providing an electronic card game to a plurality of players, comprising:

an electronic card table having a table top with a playing surface;

a plurality of electronic player interaction areas located around a periphery of the table top, each electronic player interaction area providing a player interface for interaction with one of the players;

a central display area located in a central location of the table top for displaying information to the players;

a server computer located remotely from the card table and being networked to the plurality of electronic player interaction areas and the central display area for allowing the players to purchase electronic chips, dealing a hand of the electronic card game composed of electronic cards, displaying the electronic cards on the electronic player interface areas and/or the central display area and administering the electronic card game, and for determining a winner from among the players and awarding a pot to the winner at the end of the hand.

18. A system, as set forth in claim 17, wherein the server computer in administering the electronic card game administers one or more betting rounds.

19. A system, as set forth in claim 17, wherein the electronic player interaction areas are implemented using separate display devices.

20. A system, as set forth in claim 19, wherein the display devices are touchscreen displays.

21. A system, as set forth in claim 19, wherein the display devices are housed in a computer based module, each computer based module being connected to the server computer.

22. A system, as set forth in claim 17, the central display area being implemented in a central display device, the card table including a central display computer connected to and for driving the central display device, the central display computer being connected to the server computer.

23. A system, as set forth in claim 17, wherein the electronic player interaction areas are implemented using separate display devices, the display devices being housed in a computer based module, the central display area being implemented in a central display device, the card table including a central display computer connected to and for driving the central display device, the server computer being either located at the card table or located remotely, the central display computer and the computer based modules being networked to the server computer.

24. A system, as set forth in claim 17, further comprising a second electronic card table networked to the server computer, the second electronic card table for providing an electronic card game to a second plurality of players.

25. A system, as set forth in claim 24, the second electronic card table having a table top with a playing surface, a plurality of electronic player interaction areas located around a periphery of the table top of the second electronic card table, each electronic player interaction area providing a player interface for interaction with one of the second plurality of players, a central display area located in a central location of the table top of the second electronic card table for displaying information to the second plurality of players, the server computer being networked to the plurality of electronic player interaction areas and the central display of the second electronic card table.

26. A method for providing an electronic card game to a plurality of players, comprising:

providing an electronic card table, the electronic card table having a table, a plurality of electronic player interface areas, a central display area, the table having a playing surface, the electronic player interaction areas being located around a periphery of the table top, each electronic player interaction areas providing a player interface for interaction with one of the players, the central display area located in a central location of the table top for displaying information to the players;

providing a server computer located remotely from the card table, the server computer being coupled to the plurality of electronic player interaction areas and the central display area;

dealing, by the server computer, a hand of the electronic card game composed of electronic cards;

administering, by the server computer, the electronic card game using the electronic cards and electronic chips; and

,

determining, by the server computer, a winner from among the players and awarding a pot to the winner at the end of the hand.

27. A method, as set forth in claim 26, the step of administering the electronic card game including the step of administering one or more betting rounds.

28. A method, as set forth in claim 27, wherein the step of administering one or more betting rounds includes the step of managing a pot composed of electronic chips.

29. A method, as set forth in claim 26, including the step of allowing the players to purchase electronic chips.

30. A method, as set forth in claim 26, including the step of displaying the electronic cards on the electronic player interface areas and/or the central display area.

31. A method, as set forth in claim 26, wherein the electronic player interaction areas are implemented using separate display devices, the method including the step of providing a user interface on the display devices.

32. A method, as set forth in claim 26, wherein the display devices are touchscreen displays, the method including the step of providing a user interface on the touchscreen display devices.

33. A method, as set forth in claim 26, wherein the electronic player interaction areas are implemented using separate displays devices, the display devices being housed in a computer based module, each computer based module being connected to the game computer, the central display area being implemented in a central display device, the card table including a central display computer connected to and for driving the central display device, the game computer being either located at the card table or located remotely, the central display computer and the computer based modules being networked to the game computer, the method including the steps of displaying the electronic cards representing a player'"'"'s hole cards on a respective display device and the electronic cards representing the common cards on the central display.

34. A method, as set forth in claim 26, including the step of providing a second electronic card table networked to the server computer, the second electronic card table for providing an electronic card game to a second plurality of players.

35. A method, as set forth in claim 26, the second electronic card table having a table top with a playing surface, a plurality of electronic player interaction areas located around a periphery of the table top of the second electronic card table, each electronic player interaction area providing a player interface for interaction with one of the second plurality of players, a central display area located in a central location of the table top of the second electronic card table for displaying information to the second plurality of players, the server computer being networked to the plurality of electronic player interaction areas and the central display of the second electronic card table.

36. An electronic poker table for providing an electronic poker game to a plurality of players, comprising:

a table having a table top with a playing surface;

a plurality of electronic player interaction areas located around a periphery of the table top, each electronic player interaction area providing a player interface for interaction with one of the players;

a central display area located in a central location of the table top for displaying information to the players;

a game computer coupled to the plurality of electronic player interaction areas and the central display for dealing a hand of the electronic poker game composed of electronic cards, displaying the electronic cards on the electronic player interface areas and/or the central display area and administering the electronic poker game using electronic chips and the electronic cards, and for determining a winner from among the players and awarding a pot to the winner at the end of the hand.

37. A method for providing an electronic poker game on an electronic poker table, the electronic poker table having a table, a plurality of electronic player interface areas, a central display area and a game computer, the table has a playing surface, the electronic player interaction areas are located around a periphery of the table top, each electronic player interaction area providing a player interface for interaction with one of the players, the central display area located in a central location of the table top for displaying information to the players, the game computer being coupled to the plurality of electronic player interaction areas, comprising:

dealing a hand of the electronic poker game composed of electronic cards;

administering, by the game computer, the electronic poker game using the electronic cards and electronic chips; and

,

determining, by the game computer, a winner from among the players and awarding a pot to the winner at the end of the hand.

38. A system for providing an electronic poker game to a plurality of players, comprising:

an electronic poker table having a table top with a playing surface;

a plurality of electronic player interaction areas located around a periphery of the table top, each electronic player interaction area providing a player interface for interaction with one of the players;

a central display area located in a central location of the table top for displaying information to the players;

a server computer located remotely from the poker table and being networked to the plurality of electronic player interaction areas and the central display area for allowing the players to purchase electronic chips, dealing a hand of the electronic poker game composed of electronic cards, displaying the electronic cards on the electronic player interface areas and/or the central display area and administering the electronic poker game, and for determining a winner from among the players and awarding a pot to the winner at the end of the hand.

39. A method for providing an electronic poker game to a plurality of players, comprising:

providing an electronic poker table, the electronic poker table having a table, a plurality of electronic player interface areas, a central display area, the table having a playing surface, the electronic player interaction areas being located around a periphery of the table top, each electronic player interaction areas providing a player interface for interaction with one of the players, the central display area located in a central location of the table top for displaying information to the players;

providing a server computer located remotely from the poker table, the server computer being coupled to the plurality of electronic player interaction areas and the central display area;

dealing, by the server computer, a hand of the electronic poker game composed of electronic cards;

administering, by the server computer, the electronic poker game using the electronic cards and electronic chips; and

,

determining, by the server computer, a winner from among the players and awarding a pot to the winner at the end of the hand.
