1. An apparatus for controlling a viewing angle, comprising:

  • a first transparent substrate including a first transparent electrode;

    a first alignment film including a plurality of first regions and second regions, the first alignment film being on the first transparent substrate;

    a liquid crystal layer comprising a liquid crystal material aligned with twist, the liquid crystal layer being on the first alignment film;

    a second alignment film including a plurality of third regions and fourth regions, a third region corresponding to the first region and a fourth region corresponding to the second region, alignment directions of the first region, the second region, the third region, and the fourth region being different, the second alignment film being placed on the liquid crystal layer;

    a second transparent substrate including a second transparent electrode, the second transparent substrate being on the second alignment film; and

    a polarizer on the second transparent substrate;

    wherein, by applying a voltage to the first transparent electrode and the second transparent electrode, a transmittance ratio of the first region and the second region is above 5 in an angle range above 30° and

    below 40°

    from a normal direction of the liquid crystal layer, and a transmittance of the first alignment film from the normal direction is above 90% of the transmittance in case of non-applying the voltage.
