Abstract

A communication apparatus comprising a digital interface; and a detecting unit configured to detect a change in format of video data transmitted from the digital interface, wherein the communication apparatus is adapted to control the digital interface to set the digital interface in a disabled state in case of detecting by the detecting unit that the format of video data is changed.

Claims

1. A communication apparatus, comprising:

a digital interface; and

detecting means for detecting a change in format of video data transmitted from said digital interface,

wherein the communication apparatus is adapted to control the digital interface to set said digital interface in a disabled state in case of detecting by said detecting means that the format of video data is changed.

2. The apparatus according to claim 1, wherein said digital interface is an interface compliant with IEEE 1394 standard;

and

the communication apparatus switches between enabled and disabled states of the interface connection by controlling bias of a TPA and TPA* included in said digital interface.

3. The apparatus according to claim 1, wherein said detecting means detects a change in format of video data transmitted, based upon information indicative of a format included in video data.

4. The apparatus according to claim 3, wherein said detecting means judges that a format of video data reproduced from a recording medium is a DV format or a MEPG2 format.

5. The apparatus according to claim 3, wherein said detecting means assumes that a format of video data transmitted has changed in a case where three bits APT₂, APT₁, APT₀ of an ITI sector having the video data has changed from 000 to 111 or from 111 to 000.

6. The apparatus according to claim 1, further having a lock mode for transmitting video data only in a designated format;

wherein said detecting means detects that a format of video data transmitted has changed in a case where a designated format based upon the lock mode has changed or the lock mode has been cancelled.

7. The apparatus according to claim 6, wherein the lock mode is capable of being set from the communication apparatus or a receiving apparatus;

and

the detecting unit detects that a format of video data transmitted has changed in a case where a designated format based upon the lock mode has been changed or the lock mode has been cancelled by a command from the communication apparatus.

9. The method according to claim 1, wherein the digital interface is an interface compliant with IEEE 1394 standard;

and

the control step switches between enabled and disabled states of the interface connection by controlling bias of a TPA and TPA* included in the digital interface.

8. A control method of a communication apparatus having a digital interface, comprising:

a detecting step of detecting a change in format of video data transmitted from the digital interface; and

a control step of controlling the digital interface to set the digital interface in a disabled state in case of detecting in the detecting step that the format of video data is changed.

10. The method according to claim 8, wherein the detecting step detects a change in format of video data transmitted based upon information indicative of a format included in video data.

11. The method according to claim 10, wherein the detecting step judges that a format of video data reproduced from a recording medium is a DV format or a MEPG2 format.

12. The method according to claim 10, wherein the detecting step assumes that a format of video data transmitted has changed in a case where three bits APT₂. APT₁, APT₀ of an ITI sector having the video data has changed from 000 to 111 or from 111 to 000.

13. The method according to claim 8, further having a lock mode for transmitting video data only in a designated format;

wherein the detecting step detects that a format of video data transmitted has changed in a case where a designated format based upon the lock mode has changed or the lock mode has been cancelled.

14. The method according to claim 13, wherein the lock mode is capable of being set from the communication apparatus or a receiving apparatus;

and

the detecting step detects that a format of video data transmitted has changed in a case where a designated format based upon the lock mode has been changed or the lock mode has been cancelled by a command from the communication apparatus.
