Abstract

A code power measurement device for measuring an interference level with respect to a desired code potentially used in a code division multiple access communication system includes an input, a correlating device, and a power measurement device. The input is configured to receive a signal corresponding to a received radio frequency spectrum potentially used by the desired code. The correlating device correlates the received signal with the desired code. The power measurement device measures a power level of the correlated signal.

Claims

1. A code power measurement device for measuring an interference level with respect to a desired code potentially used in a code division multiple access communication system, the code power measurement device comprising:

an input configured to receive a signal corresponding to a received radio frequency spectrum potentially used by the desired code;

a correlating device for correlating the received signal with the desired code; and

a power measurement device for measuring a power level of the correlated signal.

2. The code power measurement device of claim 1, wherein said correlating device includes a matched filter.

3. The code power measurement device of claim 1, wherein said correlating device includes a despreader.

4. The code power measurement device of claim 1, wherein the desired code is complex and said correlating device performs a complex multiplication.

5. The code power measurement device of claim 1, wherein said correlating device includes a correlator.

6. The code power measurement device of claim 1, wherein an output of said power measurement device is an indicator of the measured power level of the correlated signal.

7. The code power measurement device of claim 1 for use in a time division duplex/code division multiple access system, wherein the measured power level is measured in a time slot of interest.

8. A code power measurement device for measuring an interference level with respect to a desired code potentially used in a code division multiple access communication system, the code power measurement device comprising:

receiving means for receiving a signal corresponding to a received radio frequency spectrum potentially used by the desired code;

correlating means for correlating the received signal with the desired code; and

measuring means for measuring a power level of the correlated signal.

9. The code power measurement device of claim 8, wherein said correlating means includes a matched filter.

10. The code power measurement device of claim 8, wherein said correlating means includes a despreader.

11. The code power measurement device of claim 8, wherein the desired code is complex and said correlating means performs a complex multiplication.

12. The code power measurement device of claim 8, wherein said correlating means includes a correlator.

13. The code power measurement device of claim 8, wherein an output of said measuring means is an indicator of the measured power level of the correlated signal.

14. The code power measurement device of claim 8 for use in a time division duplex/code division multiple access system, wherein the measured power level is measured in a time slot of interest.

15. A method for measuring an interference level with respect to a desired code potentially used in a code division multiple access communication system, the method comprising the steps of:

receiving a signal corresponding to a received radio frequency spectrum potentially used by the desired code;

correlating the received signal with the desired code; and

measuring a power level of the correlated signal.

16. The method of claim 15, further comprising the step of:

determining an indicator of the measured power level.

17. The method of claim 15 for use in a time division duplex/code division multiple access system, wherein the measured power level is measured in a time slot of interest.
