Abstract

A method for authoring a grammar for use in a language processing application is provided. The method includes receiving at least one grammar configuration parameter relating to how to configure a grammar and creating the grammar based on the at least one grammar configuration parameter.

Claims

1. A method for authoring a grammar for use in a language processing application, comprising:

receiving at least one grammar configuration parameter relating to how to configure a grammar; and

creating the grammar based on the at least one grammar configuration parameter.

2. The method of claim 1 wherein the grammar configuration parameter relates to a backbone of the grammar.

3. The method of claim 1 and further comprising:

receiving a schema defining tasks and slots associated with the tasks.

4. The method of claim 3 wherein the grammar configuration parameter relates to a preamble for one of the slots.

5. The method of claim 3 wherein the grammar configuration parameter relates to a postamble for one of the slots.

6. The method of claim 3 wherein the grammar configuration parameter relates to a precommand for one of the tasks.

7. The method of claim 3 wherein the grammar configuration parameter relates to a postcommand for one of the tasks.

8. The method of claim 3 wherein the grammar configuration parameter relates to a transition between slots.

9. The method of claim 1 wherein the grammar includes a wildcard that models any phonetic sequence.

10. The method of claim 1 wherein the grammar includes a context-free grammar.

11. The method of claim 1 wherein the grammar includes an n-gram.

12. The method of claim 1 wherein the grammar includes a unified language model.

13. The method of claim 1 wherein the grammar is an HMM/CFG composite model.

14. A grammar authoring system, comprising:

a schema defining tasks and slots;

a set of grammar configuration parameters; and

a model authoring component adapted to author a grammar based on the schema and the set of grammar configuration parameters.

15. The system of claim 14 wherein at lest one of the configured grammar configuration parameters relates to a backbone of the grammar.

16. The system of claim 14 wherein at least one of the grammar configuration parameters relates to a preamble for one of the slots.

17. The system of claim 14 wherein at least one of the grammar configuration parameters relates to a postamble for one of the slots.

18. The system of claim 14 wherein at least one of the grammar configuration parameters relates to a precommand for one of the tasks.

19. The system of claim 14 wherein at least one of the grammar configuration parameters relates to a postcommand for one of the tasks.

20. The system of claim 14 wherein at least one of the grammar configuration parameters relates to a transition between slots.

21. The system of claim 14 wherein the grammar includes a wildcard that models any phonetic sequence.

22. The system of claim 14 wherein the grammar includes a context-free grammar.

23. The system of claim 14 wherein the grammar includes an n-gram.

24. The system of claim 14 wherein the grammar includes a unified language model.

25. The system of claim 14 wherein the grammar is an HMM/CFG composite model.
