Abstract

To reduce trouble of specifying a target equipment, a nickname, an image, and the like are transmitted from a digital camera to a printer by wire connection not through a LAN. After the digital camera is connected to the printer through the LAN, the digital camera displays information regarding the printer on a monitor based on the nickname, the image, and the like received from the printer.

Claims

1. A digital camera connectable to a predetermined network, comprising:

a communication unit configured to transmit identification information to a printer not through the predetermined network; and

a display unit configured to display information regarding the printer based on the identification information received from the printer after the digital camera is connected to the printer through the predetermined network.

2. The digital camera according to claim 1, wherein the identification information is a nickname of the printer, and wherein the display unit displays the nickname received from the printer in correlation with the printer.

3. The digital camera according to claim 1, wherein the identification information is an image held by the digital camera, and wherein the display unit displays the image received from the printer in correlation with the printer.

4. A digital camera connectable to a predetermined network, comprising:

a communication unit configured to receive attribute information from a printer not through the predetermined network;

a search unit configured to determine a search condition based on the attribute information, and to search for the printer with the determined search condition through the predetermined network; and

a display unit configured to display a search result obtained by the search unit.

5. The digital camera according to claim 4, wherein the attribute information is a device type, and wherein the search unit is configured to search for the printer by transmitting a conditional search request to the predetermined network using the attribute information.

6. The digital camera according to claim 4, wherein the attribute information is a service type, and wherein the search unit is configured to search for the printer by transmitting a conditional search request to the predetermined network using the attribute information.

7. The digital camera according to claim 4, wherein the attribute information is an equipment specific ID, and wherein the search unit is configured to search for the printer by transmitting a conditional search request to the predetermined network using the attribute information.

8. The digital camera according to claim 4, wherein the display unit displays a model name of a printer if an equipment specific ID of the printer is already acquired.

9. A control method for a digital camera connectable to a predetermined network, comprising the following steps:

a communication step of transmitting identification information to a printer not through the predetermined network; and

a display step of displaying information regarding the printer on a display unit based on the identification information received from the printer after the digital camera is connected to the printer through the predetermined network.

10. A controlling method for a digital camera connectable to a predetermined network, comprising the following steps:

a communication step of receiving attribute information from a printer not through the predetermined network;

a search step of determining a search condition based on the attribute information after the digital camera is connected to the printer through the predetermined network, and searching for the printer connected through the predetermined network; and

a display step of displaying a search result obtained in the search step on a display unit.
