Abstract

A method of relicensing digital encrypted radio media content transmitted via a network and received by a user electronic device includes receiving a request to relicense an encrypted digital media data file included within digital encrypted radio media content. The encrypted digital media data file is retrieved from the digital encrypted radio media content stored in a memory of the user electronic device. The encrypted digital media data file is decrypted using a radio encryption key to generate an unbound digital media data file. The unbound digital media data file is bound with the user electronic device to generate a bound encrypted digital media data file. The bound encrypted digital media data file is stored in the memory of the user electronic device.

Claims

1. A method of relicensing digital encrypted radio media content transmitted via a network and received by a user electronic device, the method comprising:

receiving a request to relicense an encrypted digital media data file included within digital encrypted radio media content;

retrieving the encrypted digital media data file from the digital encrypted radio media content stored in a memory of the user electronic device;

decrypting the encrypted digital media data file using a radio encryption key to generate an unbound digital media data file;

binding the unbound digital media data file with the user electronic device to generate a bound encrypted digital media data file; and

storing the bound encrypted digital media data file in the memory of the user electronic device.

2. The method of claim 1 further comprising:

in response to decrypting the encrypted digital media data file, providing a record of decryption to a remote computing device.

3. The method of claim 2 further comprising:

storing, in the memory of the user electronic device, the record of decryption if the user electronic device is not coupled to the remote computing device.

4. The method of claim 1 wherein the digital encrypted radio media content includes a plurality of encrypted digital media data files, wherein each encrypted digital media data file includes an audio track.

5. The method of claim 1 further comprising:

receiving the radio encryption key from a remote computing device via the network.

6. The method of claim 1 further comprising:

receiving the digital encrypted radio media content from a remote computing device, wherein a rendering sequence for a plurality of encrypted digital media data files within the digital encrypted radio media content is defined by the remote computing device.

7. The method of claim 6 wherein the rendering sequence is defined without input from a user of the user electronic device.

8. The method of claim 1 wherein the request to relicense an encrypted digital media data file is transmitted in response to receipt of an indication by a user of the user electronic device.

9. The method of claim 1 wherein retrieving the encrypted digital media data file includes:

retrieving the encrypted digital media data file from a non-viewable storage area of the memory.

10. The method of claim 1 wherein storing the bound encrypted digital media data file includes:

storing the bound encrypted digital media data file within a viewable storage area of the memory.

11. The method of claim 1 wherein retrieving the encrypted digital media data file includes:

processing location information to locate, within the memory, a plurality of radio chunk files that constitute the encrypted digital media data file;

retrieving the plurality of radio chunk files from the memory; and

processing the plurality of radio chunk files to generate the encrypted digital media data file.

12. The method of claim 11 wherein the location information includes a memory location algorithm.

13. The method of claim 11 wherein the location information includes at least one of a seed content list, a radio playlist, and a mapping file.

14. The method of claim 13 wherein the radio playlist defines a rendering sequence for the radio media content that is compliant with The Digital Millennium Copyright Act.

15. The method of claim 13 wherein the radio playlist defines a rendering sequence for the radio media content that is compliant with ASCAP policies.

16. The method of claim 13 wherein the radio playlist defines a rendering sequence for the radio media content that is compliant with BMI policies.

17. The method of claim 11 wherein at least two of the plurality of radio chunk files were combined to generate at least two modified radio chunk files.

18. The method of claim 17 wherein processing the plurality of radio chunk files includes:

.

processing the at least two modified radio chunk files to generate the at least two of the plurality of radio chunk files.

19. The method of claim 1 wherein binding the unbound digital media data file includes:

encrypting the unbound digital media data file using a user encryption key to generate the bound encrypted digital media data file.

20. A computer program product residing on a computer readable medium having a plurality of instructions stored thereon which, when executed by a processor, cause the processor to perform operations comprising:

receiving a request to relicense an encrypted digital media data file included within digital encrypted radio media content;

retrieving the encrypted digital media data file from the digital encrypted radio media content stored in a memory of the user electronic device;

decrypting the encrypted digital media data file using a radio encryption key to generate an unbound digital media data file;

binding the unbound digital media data file with the user electronic device to generate a bound encrypted digital media data file; and

storing the bound encrypted digital media data file in the memory of the user electronic device.

21. The computer program product of claim 20 further comprising instructions for performing operations comprising:

in response to decrypting the encrypted digital media data file, providing a record of decryption to a remote computing device.
