The coding method includes receiving an image, determining the number of frames in a GOP to be decoded with respect to the image, performing a 3D wavelet transformation on the GOP, and coding the results of the 3D wavelet transformation.

a VLD (variable length decoding) unit for performing a VLD operation on an inputted image;
