Abstract

A lead includes a lead body extending from a distal end to a proximal end, and at least one conductor disposed within the lead body and extending from the distal end to the proximal end of the lead body. The lead further includes an outer terminal ring, a terminal pin, and an insulative sleeve disposed between the outer terminal ring and the terminal pin, where the insulative sleeve is coupled with the outer terminal ring with a snap-fit connection. A pin latch is disposed on an outer periphery surface of the insulative sleeve, where the pin latch is rotatable about a hinge point.

Claims

1. A lead comprising:

a lead body;

a first conductive member disposed along the lead body, the first conductive member having a bore therethrough, the first conductive member extending from a first member end portion to a second member end portion and having a member intermediate portion therebetween;

an insulative sleeve coupled with the first conductive member, the insulative sleeve having a coupled position and an uncoupled position, the insulative sleeve including at least one deflecting member disposed along the insulative sleeve, the deflecting member having a deflected position when the insulative sleeve is in the coupled position; and

a second conductive member coupled with the insulative sleeve.

2. The lead as recited in claim 1, wherein the first conductive member is a terminal pin.

3. The lead as recited in claim 1, wherein the second conductive member is a terminal ring.

4. The lead as recited in claim 1, further comprising means for resisting rotation of the insulative sleeve relative to at least one of the first conductive member or the second conductive member.

5. The lead as recited in claim 1, wherein an inner surface of the insulative sleeve is tapered from a first end to a second end.

6. The lead as recited in claim 1, wherein the sleeve has an outer surface and the deflecting member is disposed along the outer surface of the sleeve.

7. The lead as recited in claim 1, further comprising at least one anti-rotation feature.

8. The lead as recited in claim 7, wherein the at least one anti-rotation feature includes at least one axial groove along the second conductive member.

9. The lead as recited in claim 1, wherein the at least one deflecting member is compressed to a deflected position by an inner surface of the second conductive member and an outer surface of the first conductive member.

10. A lead comprising:

a first conductive member having a bore therethrough, the first conductive member extending from a first member end portion to a second member end portion and having a member intermediate portion therebetween;

an insulative sleeve coupled with the first conductive member, the insulative sleeve having a coupled position and an uncoupled position, the insulative sleeve including at least one deflecting member disposed along the insulative sleeve, the deflecting member having a deflected position when the insulative sleeve is in the coupled position; and

the sleeve defined in part by an inner surface, the inner surface tapered between the first sleeve portion to a second sleeve portion.

11. The lead as recited in claim 10, further comprising a second conductive member coupled with the insulative sleeve, wherein the at least one deflecting member is compressed to a deflected position by an inner surface of the second conductive member and an outer surface of the first conductive member.

12. The lead as recited in claim 11, wherein the sleeve is longer than the second conductive member.

13. The lead as recited in claim 10, further comprising deflecting an interior surface of the insulative sleeve when the deflecting member is in the deflected position.

14. The lead as recited in claim 10, wherein the first conductive member includes at least one anti-rotation feature thereon.

15. A method comprising:

disposing a terminal pin within a bore of an insulative sleeve, the insulative sleeve including at least one collapsible pin latch;

disposing the terminal pin and sleeve within an outer terminal ring; and

advancing the insulative sleeve into the outer terminal ring from an uncoupled position to a coupled position, including collapsing the pin latch to a deflected position when the sleeve is in the coupled position.

16. The method as recited in claim 15, further comprising preventing rotation of the insulative sleeve relative to at least one of the terminal pin or the outer terminal ring.

17. The method as recited in claim 16, wherein preventing rotation of the insulative sleeve includes providing anti rotation features along an outer surface of the terminal pin.

19. The method as recited in claim 15, further comprising deflecting an interior surface of the insulative sleeve as the pin latch is deflected toward an exterior surface of the insulative sleeve.

20. The method as recited in claim 15, further comprising snap-fittedly coupling the outer terminal ring with a ring latch of the insulative sleeve.

21. The method as recited in claim 15, further comprising folding the pin latch over a relief groove of the insulative sleeve.

22. The method as recited in claim 15, further comprising compressing the sleeve with an outer surface of the terminal pin.

23. The method as recited in claim 15, further comprising compressing the sleeve with an inner surface of the terminal ring.

24. The method as recited in claim 15, wherein collapsing the pin latch includes collapsing the pin latch between an outer surface of the terminal pin and an inner surface of the terminal ring.

18. The method as recited in claim above 15, wherein preventing rotation of the insulative sleeve includes forming at least one axial groove along the terminal pin.
