a first client device that operatively connects to said online media store server via a low-bandwidth network, said first client device identifies a digital media item and sends, via the low-bandwidth network, a deferred request regarding the identified digital media item to said media store server; and
a second client device that operatively connects to said online media store server via a high-bandwidth network sometime after the deferred request is processed by said online media store server, said second client device receives, via download from said online media store server over the high-bandwidth network, the digital content of the identified digital media item that was previously identified by said first client device.

a client application, separately running on one or more of the portable wireless devices, configured to browse and mark digital media items for purchase from an online media store;
a client media management application running separately on one or more of the host computers;
one or more remote server computers configured to process commercial transactions, each of the one or more remote server computers connected to the computer network;
one or more remote server computers configured to transcode media files, each of the one or more remote server computers connected to the computer network;
one or more remote media content servers configured to deliver media content to any of the one or more host computers or the one or more portable wireless devices connected to the computer network; and
wherein any of the one or more portable wireless devices operating the client application operate to browse digital media items from any of the media content servers, and mark one or more of the digital media items for subsequent download to one or more of the host computers.
