A method of recording information on an optical information recording medium by irradiating the medium with a laser having a wavelength no greater than 450 nm, wherein the medium comprises a substrate having disposed thereon a recording layer on which information is recordable by irradiating the medium with laser light having a wavelength no greater than 450 nm, wherein the recording layer contains a phthalocyanine compound represented by Formula (I):
