Abstract

A game medium whose contents cause a media player to produce a game by sequentially presenting a plurality of solutions, and a puzzle corresponding to the plurality of solutions, with one or more output devices. The plurality of solutions includes at least one correct solution to the puzzle. The game medium'"'"'s contents also cause the media player to produce a game by receiving a first signal at the media player indicating that a first player wants to attempt to select the correct solution, receiving a second signal at the media player corresponding to a selection of one of the plurality of solutions by the first player, and presenting on at least one of the one or more output devices an indication as to whether the first player selected a correct solution.

Claims

1. A game medium whose contents cause a media player to produce a game by:

sequentially presenting with one or more output devices;

a plurality of solutions; and

a puzzle corresponding to the plurality of solutions;

wherein the plurality of solutions includes at least one correct solution to the puzzle;

receiving a first signal at the media player indicating that a first player wants to attempt to select the correct solution;

receiving a second signal at the media player corresponding to a selection of one of the plurality of solutions by the first player; and

presenting on at least one of the one or more output devices an indication as to whether the first player selected a correct solution.

2. The game medium of claim 1, wherein the media player is a digital video disc player.

3. The game medium of claim 1, wherein the puzzle is a question, and the plurality of solutions are answers to the question.

4. The game medium of claim 1, wherein each of the plurality of solutions are presented as at least one of a readable text, a video clip, an audio clip, and a picture.

5. The game medium of claim 1, wherein the puzzle is presented as a voice-over.

6. The game medium of claim 1, wherein the extent to which the puzzle is presented depends on when the first signal is received at the media player.

7. The game medium of claim 6, wherein the first signal is received before presentment of the puzzle, and the game medium'"'"'s contents cause the media player to present none of the puzzle.

8. The game medium of claim 6, wherein the first signal is received during presentment of the puzzle, and wherein the game medium'"'"'s contents cause the media player to present none of the remaining unpresented portion of the puzzle.

9. The game medium of claim 1, wherein the second signal is not received within a predetermined time after the first signal is received, and wherein the game medium'"'"'s contents cause the media player to present an indication that the first player did not select the correct solution.

10. The game medium of claim 1, wherein the game medium'"'"'s contents cause the media player to conduct the game by further:

adjusting the score of the first player according to whether the first player selected a correct solution.

11. The game medium of claim 1, wherein the first player failed to select a correct solution, and wherein the game medium'"'"'s contents cause the media player to conduct the game by further:

sequentially presenting with one or more output devices;

the plurality of solutions; and

the puzzle corresponding to the plurality of solutions;

receiving a third signal indicating that a second player wants to attempt to select the correct solution;

receiving a fourth signal corresponding to a selection of one of the plurality of solutions by the second player; and

presenting on at least one of the one or more output devices an indication as to whether the second player selected a correct solution.

12. A method of playing a game with a plurality of players, comprising:

sequentially presenting;

a plurality of solutions; and

a puzzle corresponding to the plurality of solutions;

wherein the plurality of solutions includes at least one correct solution to the puzzle;

a first player indicating an interest in attempting to select the correct solution;

selecting one of the plurality of solutions by the first player; and

indicating whether the first player selected a correct solution.

13. The method of claim 12, wherein the puzzle is a question, and the plurality of solutions are answers to the question.

14. The method of claim 12, wherein each of the plurality of solutions are presented as at least one of a readable text, a video clip, an audio clip, and a picture.

15. The method of claim 12, wherein the puzzle is presented as a voice-over.

16. The method of claim 12, wherein the extent to which the puzzle is presented depends on when the indication is received.

17. The method of claim 16, wherein the indication is received before presentment of the puzzle, thereby preventing the presentment of the puzzle.

18. The method of claim 16, wherein the indication is received during presentment of the puzzle, thereby preventing the presentment of the remaining unpresented portion of the puzzle.

19. The method of claim 16, wherein the selection is not received within a predetermined time after reception of the indication, whereby it is determined that the first player failed to select the correct solution.

20. The method of claim 12, further comprising:

adjusting the score of the first player according to whether the first player selected the correct solution.

21. The method of claim 12, wherein the first player failed to select the correct solution, and wherein the method further comprises:

sequentially presenting;

the plurality of solutions; and

the puzzle corresponding to the plurality of solutions;

receiving an indication that a second player wants to attempt to select the correct solution;

receiving a selection of one of the plurality of solutions by the second player; and

determining whether the solution selected by the second player is the correct solution.
