Abstract

A system and method for maintaining association of healthcare orders in a healthcare plan in a computerized environment are provided. A first and second order received for a healthcare plan for a patient. The first and second orders for the healthcare plan for the patient are associated with one another and the association of the first and second orders is maintained when the first and second orders are transferred to one or more applications to be completed.

Claims

1. A method for maintaining association of healthcare orders in a healthcare plan in a computerized environment, the method comprising:

receiving a first and second order for a healthcare plan for a patient;

associating the first and second order for the healthcare plan for the patient; and

maintaining the association of the first and second order, when the first and second order are transferred to one or more applications to be completed.

2. The method of claim 1, wherein the first healthcare order is an order for one of a medication, laboratory test, diagnostic test, consult and nursing care.

3. The method of claim 2, wherein the second healthcare order is an order for one of a medication, laboratory test, diagnostic test, consult and nursing care.

4. The method of claim 1, wherein the association of the first and second order is stored in a storage device.

5. The method of claim 4, wherein the storage device is one of a database and table.

6. The method of claim 1, wherein the one or more applications are one ore more of a medical administration record application, a pharmacy application, a laboratory application, a nursing task application and a radiology application.

7. The method of claim 1, further comprising:

receiving a third order for the healthcare plan for the patient.

8. The method of claim 7, further comprising:

associating the first, second and third order for the healthcare plan for the patient.

9. The method of claim 8, further comprising:

maintaining the association of the first, second and third order when the orders are transferred to an application to be completed.

10. The method of claim 1, wherein the healthcare plan is a predefined healthcare plan selected by a user on the basis of a problem or ailment suffered by the patient.

11. The method of claim 1, wherein the first and second healthcare orders for the healthcare plan were selected individually by a user for the patient.

12. A computer readable medium comprising the method of claim 1.

13. A computer program having instructions comprising the method of claim 1.

22. The system of claim 8, further comprising:

a second maintaining component for maintaining the association of the first, second and third order when the orders are transferred to one or more applications to be completed.

14. A system for maintaining association of healthcare orders in a healthcare plan in a computerized environment, the system comprising:

a receiving component for receiving a first order and a second order for a healthcare plan for a patient;

an associating component for associating the first and second order for the healthcare plan for the patient; and

a maintaining component for maintaining the association of the first and second order, when the first and second order are transferred to on or more applications to be completed.

15. The system of claim 14, wherein the first healthcare order is an order for one of a medication, laboratory test, diagnostic test, consult and nursing care.

16. The system of claim 15, wherein the second healthcare order is an order for one of a medication, laboratory test, diagnostic test, consult and nursing care.

17. The system of claim 14, wherein the association of the first and second order is stored in a storage device.

18. The system of claim 17, wherein the storage device is one of a database and table.

19. The system of claim 14, wherein the one or more applications are one or more of a medical administration record application, a pharmacy application, a laboratory application, a nursing task application and a radiology application.

20. The system of claim 14, further comprising:

a second receiving component for receiving a third order for the healthcare plan for the patient.

21. The system of claim 20, further comprising:

a second associating component for associating the first, second and third order for the healthcare plan for the patient.

23. The system of claim 14, wherein the healthcare plan is a predefined healthcare plan selected by a user on the basis of a problem or ailment suffered by the patient.

24. The system of claim 14, wherein the first and second healthcare orders for the healthcare plan were selected individually by a user for the patient.

25. A system for maintaining association of healthcare orders in a healthcare plan in a computerized environment, the system comprising:

means for receiving a first and second order for a healthcare plan for a patient;

means for associating the first and second order for the healthcare plan for the patient; and

means for maintaining the association of the first and second order, when the first and second order are transferred to one or more applications to be completed.

26. The system of claim 25, wherein the first healthcare order is an order for one of a medication, laboratory test, diagnostic test, consult and nursing care.

27. The system of claim 26, wherein the second healthcare order is an order for one of a medication, laboratory test, diagnostic test, consult and nursing care.

28. The system of claim 25, wherein the association of the first and second order is stored in a storage device.
