Abstract

An interactive poker game which provides a predetermined outcome to a player. The gaming device initially displays a plurality of individual sets or hands of face down playing cards. The gaming device determines, based on the obtained predetermined game outcome, one or more playing cards to display to the player for one or more of the individual hands of playing cards. The gaming device then enables the player to select one of the individual poker hands to play as the player'"'"'s active poker hand. The gaming device determines which playing cards must be provided to the actively played poker hand to provide the player the selected predetermined game outcome. The active poker hand is provided any determined cards which when combined with any previously revealed playing cards in the player selected poker hands results in a poker hand with an associated payout equal to the payout associated with the predetermined game outcome. The gaming device determines, preferably randomly, and displays one or more playing cards for each of the non-selected hands of playing cards and provides the predetermined game outcome to the player.

Claims

1. A gaming device operable under control of a processor, said gaming device comprising:

an interactive poker game controlled by said processor and operable upon a wager by a player;

a plurality of playing cards in said interactive poker game;

a predetermined game outcome adapted to be provided to the player in said poker game; and

a display device adapted to display said interactive poker game;

wherein said processor is operable with said display device to control a play of the interactive poker game by;

(a) displaying a plurality of hands of said playing cards to the player, wherein at least one of said playing cards of at least one of said hands is determined and displayed to the player based on said predetermined game outcome and at least one of said playing cards of at least one of said hands is masked from the player;

(b) enabling the player to select one of said plurality of hands of playing cards;

(c) determining which playing cards to reveal for any remaining masked playing cards in said selected hand of playing cards, wherein said determination is based on said predetermined game outcome;

(d) revealing said determined playing cards in said selected hand of playing cards; and

(e) providing the player said predetermined game outcome.

The gaming device of claim 1, wherein said processor is operable to control the play of said game by randomly determining which playing cards to reveal for any remaining masked playing cards for at least one non-selected hand of playing cards and revealing said determined playing cards in said non-selected hand of playing cards.

3. The gaming device of claim 1, wherein said processor is operable to control the play of said game by determining which playing cards to reveal for any remaining masked playing cards for at least one non-selected hand of playing cards and revealing said determined playing cards in said non-selected hand of playing cards.

4. The gaming device of claim 1, wherein said processor is operable to control the play of said game by determining and displaying at least one of said playing cards for a plurality of said hands of playing cards, wherein said displayed playing cards are based on said predetermined game outcome.

5. The gaming device of claim 1, wherein said processor is operable to control the play of said game by determining and displaying at least one of said playing cards for each of said hands of playing cards, wherein said displayed playing cards are based on said predetermined game outcome.

6. The gaming device of claim 1, wherein said processor is operable to control the play of said game by determining and displaying a plurality of said playing cards for at least one of said hands of playing cards, wherein said displayed playing cards are based on said predetermined game outcome.

7. The gaming device of claim 1, wherein said processor is operable to control the play of said game by determining and displaying a plurality of said playing cards for a plurality of said hands of playing cards, wherein said displayed playing cards are based on said predetermined game outcome.

8. The gaming device of claim 1, wherein said processor is operable to control the play of said game by determining and displaying each of said playing cards for at least one of said hands of playing cards, wherein said displayed playing cards are based on said predetermined game outcome.

9. The gaming device of claim 1, wherein said processor is operable to control the play of said game by utilizing a look-up table to determine which playing cards to reveal in said selected hand of playing cards.

10. The gaming device of claim 1, wherein said predetermined game outcome value is selected from a plurality of predetermined game outcomes.

11. The gaming device of claim 10, wherein one of the plurality of predetermined game outcomes is zero.

12. The gaming device of claim 1, wherein said predetermined game outcome is selected from a memory device of said gaming device.

13. The gaming device of claim 1, wherein said predetermined game outcome is selected by and received from a central controller.

14. A gaming device operable under control of a processor, said gaming device comprising:

an interactive poker game controlled by said processor and operable upon a wager by a player;

a plurality of playing cards in said interactive poker game;

a predetermined game outcome adapted to be provided to the player in said poker game, wherein said predetermined game outcome is associated with a value;

a plurality of poker hands in said poker game, wherein each of said poker hands is associated with a value; and

a display device adapted to display said interactive poker game;

wherein said processor is operable with said display device to control a play of the interactive poker game by;

(a) displaying a plurality of hands of said playing cards to the player, wherein at least one of said playing cards of at least one of said hands is determined and displayed to the player based on said predetermined game outcome and at least one of said playing cards of at least one of said hands is masked from the player;

(b) enabling the player to select one of said plurality of hands of playing cards;

(c) determining if the player selected hand of playing cards includes at least one previously displayed playing card;

(d) if the player selected hand of playing cards includes at least one previously displayed playing card, determining and revealing any remaining masked playing cards in said selected hand of playing cards which, when combined with said previously displayed playing card, form a poker hand associated with a value equal to the value associated with the predetermined game outcome;

(e) if the player selected hand of playing cards does not include any previously displayed playing cards, determining and revealing said masked playing cards in said selected hand of playing cards to form a poker hand associated with a value equal to the value associated with the predetermined game outcome; and

(f) providing the player said predetermined game outcome.

15. The gaming device of claim 14, wherein said processor is operable to control the play of said game by randomly determining and revealing which playing cards to reveal for any remaining masked playing cards in at least one non-selected hand of playing cards.

16. The gaming device of claim 14, wherein said processor is operable to control the play of said game by determining and revealing which playing cards to reveal for any remaining masked playing cards in at least one non-selected hand of playing cards.

17. The gaming device of claim 14, wherein said processor is operable to control the play of said game by determining and displaying at least one of said playing cards for a plurality of said hands of playing cards, wherein said displayed playing cards are based on said predetermined game outcome.

18. The gaming device of claim 14, wherein said processor is operable to control the play of said game by determining and displaying at least one of said playing cards for each of said hands of playing cards, wherein said displayed playing cards are based on said predetermined game outcome.

19. The gaming device of claim 14, wherein said processor is operable to control the play of said game by determining and displaying a plurality of said playing cards for at least one of said hands of playing cards, wherein said displayed playing cards are based on said predetermined game outcome.

20. The gaming device of claim 14, wherein said processor is operable to control the play of said game by determining and displaying a plurality of said playing cards for a plurality of said hands of playing cards, wherein said displayed playing cards are based on said predetermined game outcome.

21. The gaming device of claim 14, wherein said processor is operable to control the play of said game by determining and displaying each of said playing cards for at least one of said hands of playing cards, wherein said displayed playing cards are based on said predetermined game outcome.

22. The gaming device of claim 14, wherein said processor is operable to control the play of said game by utilizing a look-up table to determine which playing cards to reveal in said selected hand of playing cards.

23. The gaming device of claim 14, wherein said predetermined game outcome value is selected from a plurality of predetermined game outcomes.

24. The gaming device of claim 23, wherein one of the plurality of predetermined game outcomes is associated with a value of zero.

25. The gaming device of claim 14, wherein said predetermined game outcome is selected from a memory device of said gaming device.

26. The gaming device of claim 14, wherein said predetermined game outcome is selected by and received from a central controller.

27. A gaming device operable under control of a processor, said gaming device comprising:

an interactive poker game controlled by said processor and operable upon a wager by a player;

a plurality of playing cards in said interactive poker game;

a predetermined game outcome adapted to be provided to the player in said poker game; and

a display device adapted to display said interactive poker game;

wherein said processor is operable with said display device to control a play of the interactive poker game by;

(a) displaying a plurality of sets of said playing cards to the player, wherein at least one of said playing cards of at least one of said sets is determined and displayed to the player based on said predetermined game outcome and at least one of said playing cards of at least one of said sets is masked from the player;

(b) enabling the player to select one of said plurality of sets of playing cards;

(c) displaying any additional playing cards in said selected set of playing cards, wherein said displayed playing cards in said selected set form a hand of playing cards;

(d) determining which playing cards to reveal for any remaining masked playing cards in said selected set of playing cards, wherein said determination is based on said predetermined game outcome;

(e) revealing said determined playing cards in said selected set of playing cards; and

(f) providing the player said predetermined game outcome.

28. The gaming device of claim 27, wherein said processor is operable to control the play of said game by randomly determining which playing cards to reveal for any remaining masked playing cards for at least one non-selected set of playing cards and revealing said determined playing cards in said non-selected set of playing cards.

29. The gaming device of claim 27, wherein said processor is operable to control the play of said game by determining which playing cards to reveal for any remaining masked playing cards for at least one non-selected set of playing cards and revealing said determined playing cards in said non-selected set of playing cards.

30. A central determination gaming system comprising:

a pool of predetermined game outcomes wherein at least two of said game outcomes are different;

a central controller operable to store said pool of game outcomes, to select one of said game outcomes from said pool of game outcomes, to prevent said selected game outcome from further selections from said pool and to output said selected game outcome; and

at least one gaming device including a display device and a processor in communication with said display device operable to;

(a) enable a player to initiate a poker game, wherein said poker game includes a plurality of playing cards;

(b) receive said selected predetermined game outcome from said central controller;

(c) displaying a plurality of hands of said playing cards to the player, wherein at least one of said playing cards of at least one of said hands is determined and displayed to the player based on said predetermined game outcome and at least one of said playing cards of at least one of said hands is masked from the player;

(d) enable the player to select one of said plurality of hands of playing cards;

(e) determine which playing cards to reveal for any remaining masked playing cards in said selected hand of playing cards, wherein said determination is based on said selected predetermined game outcome;

(f) reveal said determined playing cards in said selected hand of playing cards; and

(g) provide the player said selected predetermined game outcome.

31. The central determination gaming system of claim 30, wherein said processor is operable to randomly determine which playing cards to reveal for any remaining masked playing cards for at least one non-selected hand of playing cards and reveal said determined playing cards in said non-selected hand of playing cards.

32. The central determination gaming system of claim 30, wherein said processor is operable to determine which playing cards to reveal for any remaining masked playing cards for at least one non-selected hand of playing cards and reveal said determined playing cards in said non-selected hand of playing cards.

33. The central determination gaming system of claim 30, which includes a plurality of pools of game outcomes.

34. A method of operating a gaming device, said comprising:

(a) displaying a plurality of hands of playing cards to a player, wherein at least one of said playing cards of at least one of said hands is determined and displayed to the player based on a predetermined game outcome and at least one of said playing cards of at least one of said hands is masked from the player;

(b) enabling the player to select one of said plurality of hands of playing cards;

(c) determining which playing cards to reveal for any remaining masked playing cards in said selected hand of playing cards, wherein said determination is based on said predetermined game outcome;

(d) revealing said determined playing cards in said selected hand of playing cards; and

(e) providing the player said predetermined game outcome.

35. The method of claim 34, which includes randomly determining which playing cards to reveal for any remaining masked playing cards for at least one non-selected hand of playing cards and revealing said determined playing cards in said non-selected hand of playing cards.

36. The method of claim 34, which includes determining which playing cards to reveal for any remaining masked playing cards for at least one non-selected hand of playing cards and revealing said determined playing cards in said non-selected hand of playing cards.

37. The method of claim 34, which includes determining and displaying at least one of said playing cards for a plurality of said hands of playing cards, wherein said displayed playing cards are based on said predetermined game outcome.

38. The method of claim 34, which includes determining and displaying at least one of said playing cards for each of said hands of playing cards, wherein said displayed playing cards are based on said predetermined game outcome.

39. The method of claim 34, which includes determining and displaying a plurality of said playing cards for at least one of said hands of playing cards, wherein said displayed playing cards are based on said predetermined game outcome.

40. The method of claim 34, which includes determining and displaying a plurality of said playing cards for a plurality of said hands of playing cards, wherein said displayed playing cards are based on said predetermined game outcome.

41. The method of claim 34, which includes determining and displaying each of said playing cards for at least one of said hands of playing cards, wherein said displayed playing cards are based on said predetermined game outcome.

42. The method of claim 34, which includes utilizing a look-up table to determine which playing cards to reveal in said selected hand of playing cards.

43. The method of claim 34, wherein said predetermined game outcome value is selected from a plurality of predetermined game outcomes.

44. The method of claim 43, wherein one of the plurality of predetermined game outcomes is zero.

45. The method of claim 34, wherein steps (a) to (e) are provided through a data network.

46. The method of claim 45, wherein the data network is an internet.

47. A method of operating a gaming device, said method comprising:

(a) displaying a plurality of hands of playing cards to a player, wherein at least one of said playing cards of at least one of said hands is masked from the player and at least one of said playing cards of at least one of said hands is determined and displayed to the player based on a predetermined game outcome which is associated with a value;

(b) enabling the player to select one of said plurality of hands of playing cards;

(c) determining if the player selected hand of playing cards includes at least one previously displayed playing card;

(d) if the player selected hand of playing cards includes at least one previously displayed playing card, determining and revealing any remaining masked playing cards in said selected hand of playing cards which, when combined with said previously displayed playing cards, form a poker hand associated with a value equal to the value associated with the predetermined game outcome;

(e) if the player selected hand of playing cards does not include any previously displayed playing cards, determining and revealing said masked playing cards in said selected hand of playing cards to form a poker hand associated with a value equal to the value associated with the predetermined game outcome; and

(f) providing the player said predetermined game outcome.

48. The method of claim 47, which includes randomly determining and revealing which playing cards to reveal for any remaining masked playing cards for at least one non-selected hand of playing cards.

49. The method of claim 47, which includes determining and revealing which playing cards to reveal for any remaining masked playing cards for at least one non-selected hand of playing cards.

50. The method of claim 47, which includes determining and displaying at least one of said playing cards for a plurality of said hands of playing cards, wherein said displayed playing cards are based on said predetermined game outcome.

51. The method of claim 47, which includes determining and displaying at least one of said playing cards for each of said hands of playing cards, wherein said displayed playing cards are based on said predetermined game outcome.

52. The method of claim 47, which includes determining and displaying a plurality of said playing cards for at least one of said hands of playing cards, wherein said displayed playing cards are based on said predetermined game outcome.

53. The method of claim 47, which includes determining and displaying a plurality of said playing cards for a plurality of said hands of playing cards, wherein said displayed playing cards are based on said predetermined game outcome.

54. The method of claim 47, which includes determining and displaying each of said playing cards for at least one of said hands of playing cards, wherein said displayed playing cards are based on said predetermined game outcome.

55. The method of claim 47, which includes utilizing a look-up table to determine which playing cards to reveal in said selected hand of playing cards.

56. The method of claim 47, wherein said predetermined game outcome value is selected from a plurality of predetermined game outcomes.

57. The method of claim 56, wherein one of the plurality of predetermined game outcomes is associated with a value of zero.

58. The method of claim 47, wherein steps (a) to (f) are provided through a data network.

59. The method of claim 58, wherein the data network is an internet.

60. A method of operating a gaming device, said method comprising:

(a) displaying a plurality of sets of playing cards to a player, wherein at least one of said playing cards of at least one of said sets is determined and displayed to the player based on a predetermined game outcome and at least one of said playing cards of at least one of said sets is masked from the player;

(b) enabling the player to select one of said plurality of sets of playing cards;

(c) displaying any additional playing cards in said selected set of playing cards, wherein said displayed playing cards in said selected set form a hand of playing cards;

(d) determining which playing cards to reveal for any remaining masked playing cards in said selected set of playing cards, wherein said determination is based on said predetermined game outcome;

(e) revealing said determined playing cards in said selected set of playing cards; and

(f) providing the player said predetermined game outcome.

61. The method of claim 60, which includes randomly determining which playing cards to reveal for any remaining masked playing cards for at least one non-selected set of playing cards and revealing said determined playing cards in said non-selected set of playing cards.

62. The method of claim 60, which includes determining which playing cards to reveal for any remaining masked playing cards for at least one non-selected set of playing cards and revealing said determined playing cards in said non-selected set of playing cards.

63. The method of claim 60, wherein steps (a) to (f) are provided through a data network.

64. The method of claim 63, wherein the data network is an internet.
