Abstract

The present embodiments provide methods, systems and apparatuses for use in managing content on at least a local network. Some embodiments provide a method for use in distributing content that receives a request to deliver premium content over a distributed network; identifies a location relative to where the request is made; determines whether there is a first additional content associated with the location; adds the first additional content to the requested premium content when there is the first additional content associated with the location; and distributes the requested premium content and the first additional content according to the request.

Claims

1. A method for use in distributing content, comprising:

receiving a request to deliver premium content over a distributed network;

identifying a location relative to where the request is made;

determining whether there is a first additional content associated with the location;

adding the first additional content to the requested premium content when there is the first additional content associated with the location; and

distributing the requested premium content and the first additional content according to the request.

2. The method of claim 1, further comprising:

determining whether authorization is associated with the request;

determining whether a second additional content is associated with the authorization;

adding the second additional content to the requested premium content when there is the second additional content associated with the authorization; and

distributing the requested premium content and the second additional content according to the request.

3. The method of claim 2, further comprising:

receiving an identification for a requester;

identifying a client device associated with the identification of the requester accessible over the distributed network to receive; and

wherein the distributing the requested premium content and the second additional content according to the request further comprises distributing the requested premium content and the second additional content to the client device.

4. The method of claim 1, further comprising:

identifying an authorization based on the location relative to where the request is made retrieving the authorization;

distributing the authorization; and

evaluating the request to determine whether the request includes the authorization.

5. The method of claim 4, wherein the distributing the authorization comprises communicating the authorization to a portable client device.

6. A method for use in managing content, comprising:

receiving a request to transfer a license associated with preexisting content;

determining whether the preexisting content is disabled;

determining a destination for the license; and

defining a transferred license according to the destination when the preexisting content is disabled.

7. The method of claim 6, wherein the determining a destination comprises identifying a media upon which new content is contained and to which the transferred license is to apply.

8. The method of claim 6, wherein the determining a destination comprises identifying a unique identifier of the media, and the defining of the transferred license comprises limiting the license to be effective with the unique identifier of the media.

9. The method of claim 6, further comprising:

identifying a unique identifier associated with the preexisting content; and

disabling a preexisting license associated with the unique identifier associated with the preexisting content.

10. The method of claim 6, wherein the receiving a request to transfer the license associated with preexisting content comprises receiving a request to convert the preexisting content from a first format to a second format;

and

the defining the transferred license comprises defining the transfer license for the second formatted content.

11. A method for use in managing content over a network, comprising:

determining whether additional content is added to the network;

identifying the additional content;

identifying a collection to which the additional content applies; and

adding the additional content to the collection.

12. The method of claim 11, further comprising:

pushing the collection to a recording device; and

recording the collection of content.

13. The method of claim 11, further comprising:

identifying a client device on the network;

distributing the additional content to the client device prior to a request for distributing the additional content.

14. The method of claim 11, wherein the identifying the additional content comprises extracting metadata associated with the additional content and identifying the metadata.

15. The method of claim 14, further comprising:

determining an identifier of the additional content;

adding an identifier of the additional content to an aggregate content listing of content accessible over a local network.
