Abstract

A multimedia access system includes: a database including user equipment spec information; an application server for transcoding multimedia data to be transmitted in accordance with user equipment spec information of a receiver side in the database; and an addressing unit for addressing a transmission packet so that that the multimedia data to be transmitted is transcoded by the application server.

Claims

1. A multimedia access system comprising:

a database including user equipment spec information;

an application server for transcoding multimedia data to be transmitted in accordance with user equipment spec information of a receiver side in the database; and

an addressing unit for addressing a transmission packet so that that the multimedia data to be transmitted is transcoded by the application server.

2. The multimedia access system according to claim 1, wherein the application server comprises:

a unit for adaptively transcoding multimedia data in accordance with the user equipment spec of the receiver side; and

a unit for connecting to the data base, receiving and analyzing the user equipment spec of the receiver side, and controlling a corresponding multimedia data to be transcoded in accordance with the user equipment spec of the receiver side based on the analyzed spec.

3. The multimedia access system according to claim 1, wherein the database is included in a home subscriber server in an Internet protocol multimedia subsystem.

4. The multimedia access system according to claim 1, wherein the addressing unit is included in a call session control function in an Internet protocol multimedia subsystem.

5. The multimedia access system according to claim 1, wherein the user equipment spec information includes a device information including display resolution, a processor performance information, a moving picture spec including resolution and frame rate, or a combination thereof.

6. The multimedia access system according to claim 1, wherein resolution and/or a frame rate are/is adjusted in accordance with the user equipment spec of the receiver side by transcoding the multimedia data to be transmitted.

7. A multimedia access system comprising:

a user equipment having its own spec information and transmitting the spec information;

an application server for receiving spec information from the user equipment of a receiver side, and transcoding multimedia data to be transmitted in accordance with the received spec information; and

an addressing unit for addressing a transmission packet so that that the multimedia data to be transmitted is transcoded by the application server.

8. The multimedia access system according to claim 7, wherein the application server comprises:

a unit for adaptively transcoding multimedia data in accordance with the user equipment spec of the receiver side; and

a unit for receiving and analyzing the user equipment spec of the receiver side, and controlling a corresponding multimedia data to be transcoded in accordance with the user equipment spec of the receiver side based on the analyzed spec.

9. The multimedia access system according to claim 7, wherein the spec information of the user equipment is transmitted using a session initialization protocol in an Internet protocol multimedia subsystem.

10. The multimedia access system according to claim 7, wherein the addressing unit is included in a call session control function in an Internet protocol multimedia subsystem.

11. A multimedia access method comprising:

recognizing spec information of a user equipment of a receiver side when multimedia data are transmitted;

adaptively transcoding the multimedia data in accordance with the recognized spec of the user equipment of the receiver side; and

transmitting the transcoded multimedia data.

12. The multimedia access method according to claim 11, wherein the spec information of the user equipment is received from the user equipment of the receiver side at a session connection state in an Internet protocol multimedia subsystem using a session initialization protocol.

13. The multimedia access method according to claim 11, wherein the spec information of the user equipment is received from a home subscriber server in an Internet protocol multimedia subsystem.

14. The multimedia access method according to claim 11, further comprising determining in accordance with the recognized spec whether or not a corresponding multimedia data is to pass through an application server for the transcoding.

15. The multimedia access method according to claim 13, further comprising:

determining whether or not the recognized spec is suitable for a transmission multimedia data; and

when the user equipment spec of the receiver side is suitable for the transmission multimedia data, addressing a transmission packet such that a corresponding data does not pass through an application server for the transcoding, and when the user equipment spec of the receiver side is unsuitable for the transmission multimedia data, addressing a transmission packet such that a corresponding data passes through an application server for the transcoding.

The multimedia access method according to claim 13, wherein the user equipment spec information includes a device information including display resolution, a processor performance information, a moving picture spec including resolution and frame rate, or a combination thereof, and the resolution and/or frame rate of a corresponding multimedia data is are/is adjusted in accordance with the user equipment spec information.

17. A plug-in service device comprising:

a database for managing a plug-in software;

a plug-in application server for determining where or not a user equipment needs the plug-in software and transmitting the corresponding plug-in software.

18. The plug-in service device according to claim 17, further comprising a database providing the spec information of the user equipment to the plug-in application server.

19. The plug-in service device according to claim 17, wherein the plug-in application server comprises:

a module for determining whether or not to transmit the plug-in software to the user equipment; and

a module for transmitting the plug-in software to the corresponding user equipment.

20. A user equipment comprising:

a spec storage for storing spec information;

a spec generating module for generating and transmitting spec information in a data format suitable for transmission to an application server of a mobile communication system; and

a module for receiving and executing a plug-in software transmitted from a plug-in server.

21. The user equipment according to claim 20, wherein the spec information includes at least one of processor information, operating system information, resource information, and codec information.

22. A plug-in service method comprising:

determining whether or not data transmitted from a user equipment of a transmitter side can be processed by a user equipment of a receiver side;

determining a processible plug-in software when the data transmitted from the user equipment of the transmitter side is processible by the user equipment of the receiver side; and

transmitting the determined plug-in software to the user equipment of the receiver side.

23. The plug-in service method according to claim 22, wherein the determining of whether or not the data transmitted from the user equipment of the transmitter side is processible comprises:

analyzing a user equipment spec of the receiver side and data to be transmitted; and

determining whether or not the data to be transmitted is processible by the user equipment spec of the receiver side.

24. The plug-in service method according to claim 22, wherein the user equipment spec is transmitted from the user equipment in a session initialization mode during the determining of whether or not the data transmitted from the user equipment of the transmitter side is processible.

25. The plug-in service method according to claim 22, wherein the user equipment spec is received from a database managing the spec information of the user equipment during the determining of whether or not the data transmitted from the transmitting user equipment is processible.

26. A plug-in service method comprising:

requesting a session initialization for communication between a user equipment of a transmitter side and a user equipment of a receiver side;

transmitting, at the user equipment of the receiver side, a message including a user equipment ID of the receiver side upon acceptance of the session;

transmitting data of the user equipment of the transmitter side;

searching, at a plug-in server, the spec information of the user equipment having a corresponding ID from a database;

analyzing, at the plug-in server, the searched spec and transmission data and determining whether a plug-in service is needed; and

transmitting a plug-in software from the plug-in server to the user equipment of the receiver side when the plug-in service is needed.

27. A plug-in service method comprising:

determining, at a user equipment of a receiver side, whether or not a plug-in service is needed;

requesting, at the user equipment of the receiver side, plug-in software from the plug-in server when plug-in service is needed;

transmitting the corresponding plug-in software from the plug-in server to the user equipment of the receiver side in response to the request of the user equipment of the receiver side; and

processing, at the receiving user equipment, the transmitted data by executing the transmitted plug-in software.

28. The plug-in service method according to claim 27, wherein the determining of whether or not the plug-in service is needed comprises:

requesting session initialization at the user equipment of the transmitter side;

accepting the session at the user equipment of the receiver side;

transmitting data from the user equipment of the transmitter side;

receiving the data at the user equipment of the receiver side; and

analyzing, at the user equipment of the receiver side, whether or not the data is processible by the user equipment of the receiver side.
