1. A transscleral drug delivery device for delivering a drug into a mammalian eye, the device comprising:

  • (a) a dome member having a base region, the dome member defining a cavity for receiving the drug, and (b) a base plate attached to the base region, the base plate having a sclera-contacting surface for attaching the device to a scleral surface of the eye, the base plate defining at least one drug outlet port to provide fluid flow communication between the cavity and the scleral surface of the eye when the device is attached to the eye, the drug outlet port comprising at least 25% of the footprint of the base region.
