1. A stent system comprising:
- two or more metallic or polymeric stents that are fitted to be integrated into each other; and
a protein matrix material surrounding one or more of the metallic or polymeric stents, the protein matrix material including one or more biocompatible protein materials, combined with one or more biocompatible solvents and optionally one or more pharmacologically active agents to form a coatable film, wherein the coatable film is partially dried, formed into a cohesive body and compressed to reduce bulk water and form a compressed protein matrix stent system.

Abstract
The present invention comprises a stent system comprising zero or more inner stents inserted into an outer stent. The inner stents and outer stent are separated and/or encapulated by a protein-based material of a protein matrix and/or a set biocoacervate, each comprising one or more biocompatible proteins and one or more biocompatible solvents. The protein-based material may also include one or more carbohydrates and one or more pharmacologically active agents.

A single strand stent comprising a single strand twisted to form a loop strut, said loop strut coated or encapsulated with a protein matrix material including one or more biocompatible protein materials, combined with one or more biocompatible solvents and optionally one or more pharmacologically active agents to form a coatable film, wherein the coatable film is partially dried, formed into a cohesive body and compressed to reduce bulk water and form a compressed protein matrix stent system.

A single strand stent comprising a single strand twisted to form a loop strut, said loop strut coated or encapsulated with a a biocoacervate material coating or encapsulating one or more of the stents, the biocoacervate material comprising one or more primary proteins, one or more secondary proteins, one or more proteoglycans, one or more biocompatible solvents.
