Abstract

A patient support including a frame and a mattress supported by the frame. The frame includes a deck support and a deck supporting the mattress.

Claims

1. An articulatable mattress assembly comprising:

an articulatable head portion adapted to support an upper portion of a person; and

an adjustable length foot portion adapted to support a lower portion of the person, the foot portion including a foam portion having a plurality of transversely extending members, the adjustable length foot portion being adjustable in length during articulation of the head portion.

2. The mattress assembly of claim 1, wherein the length of the foot portion of the mattress decreases with the lowering of the head section.

3. The mattress assembly of claim 1, wherein the length of the foot portion of the mattress simultaneously corresponds with the position of the head portion of the mattress.

4. The mattress assembly of claim 1, wherein the head section includes at least one inflatable bladder.

5. The mattress assembly of claim 1, wherein the head section includes a foam layer.

6. The mattress assembly of claim 1, further comprising a coupler, the coupler adapted to couple the head portion to a head section of an articulatable deck.

7. A mattress assembly for use with a patient support, the patient support having a frame and an articulatable deck, the articulatable deck having a head section and a foot section, the mattress assembly comprising:

a body portion; and

a foot portion positioned adjacent the body section and including a foam portion compressible in response to movement of at least one of the foot section and the head section of the articulatable deck.

8. The mattress assembly of claim 7, wherein the foam portion includes a plurality of transversely extending members.

9. The mattress assembly of claim 7, wherein the length of the foot portion decreases with the lowering of the head section.

10. The mattress assembly of claim 7, wherein the length of the foot portion increases with the raising of the head section.

11. The mattress assembly of claim 7, wherein the length of the foot portion of the mattress corresponds with the position of the body portion.

12. The mattress assembly of claim 7, further comprising a cover defining an interior region, the body portion and foot portion positioned within the interior region.

13. A mattress assembly positionable on an articulating deck, the mattress assembly comprising:

a head portion;

a seat portion adjacent the head portion; and

a foot portion adjacent the seat portion, the foot portion including an adjustable length portion responsive to articulation of a portion of the articulating deck.

14. The mattress assembly of claim 13, wherein the adjustable length portion includes a foam portion changeable in length in response to articulation of the articulating deck.

15. The mattress assembly of claim 14, wherein the foam portion includes a plurality of transversely extending members.

16. The mattress assembly of claim 13, wherein the length of the adjustable length portion decreases with the lowering of a head section of the articulating deck.

17. The mattress assembly of claim 13, wherein the length of the adjustable length portion increases with the raising of a head section of the articulating deck.

18. The mattress assembly of claim 13, wherein the length of the adjustable length portion corresponds with the position of the head portion of the mattress.

19. The mattress assembly of claim 13, wherein at least one of the head section and seat section include at least one inflatable bladder.

20. The mattress assembly of claim 13, further comprising a cover defining an interior region, the head, seat, and foot portions being located within the interior region.
