1. An on-line computerized process having an application protocol for managing a project from a computer system over a computer network using a transport protocol, the process comprising the steps of:
- requesting, justifying and defining a new project;
developing and tracking of business and technical milestones;
flagging and monitoring of business and technical milestones;
computing costs, timing and other relevant items with respect to the project including the finished product or process;
entering actual data and other information as it becomes available;
creating thresholds for any or all of the flagged items;
determining persons and times for reviewing and approving the project;
wherein the persons are selected from across the companies functional groups, and storing all the data, projections and actuals, comparisons, descriptions, analyses and other relevant information in a central storage facility, wherein all such contents of the central storage facility share common metrics, common vocabularies, and wherein relevant information is readable, and further where such relevant information is accessible according to a hierarchical order.

Abstract
The present invention provides an on-line computer systems (herein defined to include software) that includes processes, technologies, facilities to manage comprehensively a “project.” Management defined as spanning the time from the idea or inception that inspired the project to the resulting products'"'"' or processes'"'"' ends-of-life. The system provides a central data depository for data and information generated or gleaned from others that bear on any and all aspects of a “project.” Common metrics, vocabularies, forms and other such data facilitates review, approval and management from all corporate functions. Hierarchical access to current stored information and condensed summaries allows timely decisions by upper corporate management. The present system facilitates analyses at detailed levels, or at overall levels, and includes comparisons to past projects and for collecting cumulative information that measure the overall impact of the projects past and present.
