Abstract

A computerized business method that provides content to supplement a presentation of an experiential data stream. The method includes a step of receiving a request for content configured to be included in said presentation of the experiential data stream. The method also determines content parameters from the request that are used to select the content. It also provides the content and records appropriate transaction information.

Claims

1. A computer controlled method configured to provide content to supplement a presentation of an experiential data stream, said method comprising:

receiving, by a networked computer system, a request to provide said content, said content configured to be included in said presentation of said experiential data stream;

determining, by said networked computer system, one or more content parameters related to said request;

selecting, by said networked computer system, said content responsive to the step of determining;

providing, by said networked computer system, said content; and

recording, by said networked computer system, transaction information responsive to the step of providing.

2. The computer controlled method of claim 1, further comprising storing said content for access by said networked computer system.

3. The computer controlled method of claim 2, further comprising receiving content at said networked computer system from a creator of said content.

4. The computer controlled method of claim 3, wherein the method further comprises compensating said creator for distribution of said content.

5. The computer controlled method of claim 1, wherein said content is a commentary audio clip.

6. The computer controlled method of claim 1, wherein said content is replacement/additional content.

7. The computer controlled method of claim 6, wherein said replacement/additional content comprises an advertisement.

8. The computer controlled method of claim 6, wherein said replacement/additional content is supplemental content for said experiential data stream, replacement content for said experiential data stream, additional content for said experiential data stream, or commercial content.

9. The computer controlled method of claim 6, wherein said replacement/additional content is related to a targeted portion of said experiential data stream.

10. The computer controlled method of claim 9, wherein said replacement/additional content is a parody content related to said experiential data stream, is additional content available but omitted from said experiential data stream, or is content having a different parental rating than the corresponding content in said targeted portion.

11. The computer controlled method of claim 1, wherein the step of providing further comprises shipping a tangible computer-usable data carrier having said content embodied within to satisfy said request.

12. The computer controlled method of claim 1, wherein the step of providing further comprises sending said content over said network to satisfy said request.

13. The computer controlled method of claim 1, wherein the method further comprises billing responsive to said transaction information.

14. The computer controlled method of claim 1, further comprising capturing demographic information related to said request wherein said demographic information is used in the step of selecting.

15. A computer program product configured to provide content to supplement a presentation of an experiential data stream, said product comprising:

a computer-usable data carrier storing instructions that, when executed by a computer, cause said computer to perform a method comprising;

receiving, by a networked computer system, a request to provide said content, said content configured to be included in said presentation of said experiential data stream;

determining, by said networked computer system, one or more content parameters related to said request;

selecting, by said networked computer system, said content responsive to the step of determining;

providing, by said networked computer system, said content; and

recording, by said networked computer system, transaction information responsive to the step of providing.

16. The computer program product of claim 15, further comprising storing said content for access by said networked computer system.

17. The computer program product of claim 16, further comprising receiving content at said networked computer system from a creator of said content.

18. The computer program product of claim 17, wherein the product further comprises compensating said creator for distribution of said content.

19. The computer program product of claim 15, wherein said content is a commentary audio clip.

20. The computer program product of claim 15, wherein said content is replacement/additional content.

21. The computer program product of claim 20, wherein said replacement/additional content comprises an advertisement.

22. The computer program product of claim 20, wherein said replacement/additional content is supplemental content for said experiential data stream, replacement content for said experiential data stream, additional content for said experiential data stream, or commercial content.

23. The computer program product of claim 20, wherein said replacement/additional content is related to a targeted portion of said experiential data stream.

24. The computer program product of claim 23, wherein said replacement/additional content is a parody content related to said experiential data stream, is additional content available but omitted from said experiential data stream, or is content having a different parental rating than the corresponding content in said targeted portion.

25. The computer program product of claim 15, wherein the step of providing further comprises shipping a tangible computer-usable data carrier having said content embodied within to satisfy said request.

26. The computer program product of claim 15, wherein the step of providing further comprises sending said content over said network to satisfy said request.

27. The computer program product of claim 15, wherein the product further comprises billing responsive to said transaction information.

28. The computer program product of claim 15, further comprising capturing demographic information related to said request wherein said demographic information is used in the step of selecting.
