Abstract

Systems and methods are provided for data processing. In one implementation, a data processing system includes storage means for storing sets of account identifiers, each of the sets of account identifiers being assigned a set of control parameters. The data processing system may also include an account management system that stores account data of accounts that are identified by the account identifiers, interface means coupled to the account management system, and one or more sets of application programs that are adapted to process account data of accounts identified by at least one of the one or more sets of account identifiers using the set of control parameters assigned to the at least one of the one or more sets of account identifiers. The interface means may obtain the account data from the account management system on request of one of the application programs.

Claims

1. A data processing system, comprising:

storage means for storing one or more sets of account identifiers, each of the one or more sets of account identifiers including a set of control parameters;

an account management system storing account data of accounts that are identified by the account identifiers;

interface means coupled to the account management system; and

a set of application programs, the application programs being adapted to process account data of accounts identified by at least one of the one or more sets of account identifiers using the set of control parameters assigned to the at least one of the one or more sets of account identifiers,

wherein the interface means obtains the account data from the account management system on request of one of the application programs.

2. The data processing system of claim 1, wherein the application programs are adapted to generate a posting request as a result of processing the account data, and the interface means is adapted to send the posting request to the account management system.

3. The data processing system of claim 1, wherein the set of control parameters comprises application program specific sub-sets of control parameters.

4. The data processing system of claim 3, wherein one of the application program specific sub-sets of control parameters comprises control parameters for overdraft protection of at least one of the accounts.

5. The data processing system of claim 4, wherein the control parameters of one of the application program specific sub-sets specifies at least one funded and at least one funding account, wherein overdraft protection for the funded account is provided by the funding account.

6. The data processing system of claim 5, wherein the overdraft protection relationship between a funded and a funding account has an assigned priority.

7. The data processing system of claim 4, further comprising:

a visualization program component for visualizing the overdraft protection relationships between funded and funding accounts.

The data processing system of claim 4, wherein the account management system includes a buffer for buffering incoming postings received from a posting source, wherein the buffer is adapted to transfer the buffered postings to the data processing system for processing prior to booking the postings on the respective accounts for the purpose of overdraft protection.

9. The data processing system of claim 3, wherein one of the application program specific sub-sets comprises control parameters for bundle pricing.

10. The data processing system of claim 3, wherein one of the application program specific sub-sets comprises control parameters for payment distribution and monitoring.

11. The data processing system of claim 1, further comprising:

a mass activity tool for mass processing of a plurality of the sets of account identifiers by a selected application program of the set of application programs.

12. A data processing method, comprising:

selecting at least one set of account identifiers from a plurality of sets of account identifiers, each of the sets of account identifiers including a set of control parameters;

selecting at least one application program of a set of application programs for processing the selected sets of account identifiers;

requesting account data of accounts identified by the account identifiers of the selected sets of account identifiers from at least one account management system;

processing the account data in accordance with the control parameters assigned to the account identifiers of the selected sets of account identifiers to generate posting requests; and

transmitting the posting requests to the at least one account management system.

13. The data processing method of claim 12, wherein the set of control parameters comprise application program specific sub-sets of control parameters, and one of the application program specific sub-sets comprises control parameters for overdraft protection of at least one of the accounts.

14. The data processing method of claim 13, wherein the control parameters specify at least one funded account and at least one funding account, overdraft protection for the funded account being provided by means of the funding account, the method further comprising:

generating a posting request for performing a money transfer from the funding account to the funded account.

The data processing method of claim 14, wherein a relationship between a funded account and a funding account is assigned a priority, and wherein the posting requests for transferring money from a funding account to a funded account are generated in accordance with the priority assigned to the relationship.

16. The method of claim 12, wherein postings that are buffered in a buffer of the account management system are transferred for processing by the selected application program prior to booking the postings on the respective accounts held in the account management system.

17. The data processing method of claim 12, further comprising using the control parameters to implement bundle pricing.

18. The data processing method of claim 12, further comprising using the control parameters for payment distribution and monitoring.

19. A computer readable medium comprising computer executable instructions for performing a data processing method, the method comprising:

selecting at least one set of account identifiers from a plurality of sets of account identifiers, each of the sets of account identifiers including a set of control parameters;

selecting at least one application program of a set of application programs for processing the selected sets of account identifiers;

requesting account data of accounts identified by the account identifiers of the selected sets of account identifiers from at least one account management system;

processing the account data in accordance with the control parameters assigned to the account identifiers of the selected sets of account identifiers to generate posting requests; and

transmitting the posting requests to the at least one account management system.
