Abstract

Aspects of the present invention relate to the creation of an ink font. Based on characteristics of handwritten characters, the collection of characters may be scaled so as to adjust the size of the font to match predefined size values or relationships.

Claims

1. A process for creating an ink font comprising the steps of:

receiving a first handwritten input;

scaling an input region based on said first handwritten input;

receiving a second handwritten input;

creating said ink font from said first and said second handwritten input.

2. The process according to claim 1, further comprising the step of:

adjusting said ink font to comport with predetermined relationships of font spacings.

3. The process according to claim 1, wherein said receiving said first handwritten input step further comprises the step of receiving normal characters.

4. The process according to claim 1, wherein said receiving said second handwritten input step further comprises the step of receiving ascend characters.

5. The process according to claim 1, wherein said receiving said second handwritten input step further comprises the step of receiving descent characters.

14. A computer readable medium having a program stored thereon, said program for creating an ink font, said program in accordance with claim 1.

6. A process for creating an ink font comprising the steps of:

receiving handwritten input; and

scaling said handwritten input.

7. The process according to claim 6, wherein said scaling step scales all of said handwritten input so as to adjust the size of said ink font to fit predetermined ascender and descender relationships.

8. The process according to claim 6, wherein said receiving handwritten input further comprises the steps of:

receiving normal characters;

receiving ascending characters; and

receiving descending characters.

9. The process according to claim 8, wherein said scaling step adjusts a degree of scaling based on at least one of ascending characters and descending characters.

15. A computer readable medium having a program stored thereon, said program for creating an ink font, said program in accordance with claim 6.

10. A system for creating an ink font comprising:

means for receiving handwritten input; and

means for scaling said handwritten input.

11. The system according to claim 10, wherein said means for scaling scales all of said handwritten input so as to adjust the size of said ink font to fit predetermined ascender and descender relationships.

12. The system according to claim 10, wherein said means for receiving handwritten input further comprises:

means for receiving normal characters;

means for receiving ascending characters; and

means for receiving descending characters.

13. The system according to claim 12, wherein said means for scaling step adjusts a degree of scaling based on at least one of ascending characters and descending characters.

16. A system for creating a font from a user'"'"'s handwriting comprising:

a digitizer;

a processor that receives information relating to said user'"'"'s handwriting from said digitizer and processes said information to create said font; and

a storage that receives said font from said processor,

wherein said processor scales said information based on predetermined ratio information to adjust a size of said information in said font.

17. The system according to claim 16, wherein said processor adjusts an input region associated with said digitizer based on received selected characters.

18. The system according to claim 16, wherein said processor repeatedly adjusts an input region associated with said digitizer based on said information.
