Abstract

An electronic identification system comprising a system server and a plurality of mobile devices, the system server and the mobile devices being electronically connectable, where the system server contains references to a plurality of subscribers to the system. The system server receives an electronic request message from a remote location to verify an identity, where the request message contains a reference to the requesting remote location and a reference to an identity to be verified. The system server identified the received referenced identity with one of the plurality of mobile devices (the identified mobile platform), and the system server transmits a confirmation message to the identified mobile device, where the confirmation message contains a reference to the requesting remote location and the identity to be verified. The system server receives a verification message from the identified mobile device in response to the confirmation message, where the verification message contains an authorization to confirm/not confirm identification.

Claims

1. An electronic identification system comprising a system server and a plurality of mobile devices, said system server and said mobile devices being electronically connectable, said system server containing references to a plurality of subscribers, said system server receiving an electronic request message from a remote location to verify an identify, said request message containing a reference to the requesting remote location and a reference to an identity to be verified, said system server identifying said received referenced identity with one of said plurality of mobile devices (the identified mobile platform), said system server transmitting an confirmation message to said identified mobile device, said confirmation message containing a reference to the requesting remote location and the identity to be verified, said system server receiving a verification message from said identified mobile device in response to said confirmation message, said verification message containing an authorization to confirm/not confirm identification.

2. The electronic identification system of claim 1 wherein said mobile devices includes wireless communications device.

3. The electronic identification system of claim 1 wherein said request message is received over a network.

4. The electronic identification system of claim 3 wherein said network includes a global communications network.

5. The electronic identification system of claim 2 where said wireless communications device includes a cell phone

6. The electronic identification system of claim 3 where said request message is sent over a dedicated network.

7. The electronic identification system of claim 1 where said system includes a plurality of Vender servers and said remote location communication transmitted to said system server, is sent through one of said vendor servers.

8. The electronic identification system of claim 1 wherein each mobile device further included secure features providing access to transmission of said verification messages.

9. The electronic identification system of claim 8 wherein said secure features includes personal identification numbers or passwords.

10. The electronic identification system of claim 8 wherein said secure access features includes biometric data input.

11. The electronic identification system of claim 1 wherein said system stores personal identification information and said verification message authorizes the release of said personal identification information of the identity to be verified.

12. The electronic identification system of claim 11 where said personal identification information is located on said mobile device.

13. The electronic identification system of claim 11 where said personal identification information is located on said system server.

14. An electronic identification system comprising a plurality of mobile device and a plurality of vendor servers, each vendor server associated with vendor transactions requiring verification of the identity of individuals involved in a vendor transactions, one of said vendor server (the requesting vendor server) sending an electronic request to verify an identify, said request message containing request information that references the identify to be verified and references the transaction, said request information being routed to one of said mobile devices associated with the identity to be verified, (the identified mobile platform), said mobile device sending a verification message from said identified mobile platform in response to routed request information, said verification message containing authorization information to confirm/not confirm identification, said authorization information being routed to said requesting vendor server.

15. The electronic identification system of claim 14 wherein said mobile devices includes wireless communications device.

16. The electronic identification system of claim 14 wherein said request message is transmitted over a network.

17. The electronic identification system of claim 15 where said wireless communications device includes a cell phone

18. The electronic identification system of claim 14 wherein each mobile device further included secure features providing access to transmission of said verification messages.

19. The electronic identification system of claim 18 wherein said secure features includes personal identification numbers or passwords.

20. The electronic identification system of claim 18 wherein said secure access features includes biometric data input.

21. The electronic identification system of claim 14 wherein said system stores personal identification information and said verification message authorizes the release of said personal identification information of the identity to be verified.

22. The electronic identification system of claim 21 where said personal identification information is located on said mobile device.
