Abstract

The present invention provides systems and method for delivering information to a transmitting and receiving device. The device receives a notification alerting a user of the device that information is available to be obtained and, in some embodiments, providing a short description of the information. After receiving the notification at the device, the user can then use the device to obtain or otherwise act on the information at a time and at a place convenient to the user.

Claims

1. A method, comprising the steps of:

receiving a notification at a transmitting and receiving device, the notification including an information identifier identifying information intended for the device, wherein the information is stored in a system but not stored in the device at the time the notification is received, and the information is not included in the notification regardless of the amount of the information;

informing a user of the device that the notification has been received;

receiving input form the user specifying a desired function to be performed on the information identified by the information identifier;

generating a request signal indicating the desired function; and

sending the request signal from the device to the system so that the desired function may be performed on the information identified by the information identifier.
