Abstract

A multiple language support system and method. The multiple language system includes a multiple language support system for an application, the system includes a resource data generation unit to generate resource data for the language of the application, a resource data processing unit to extract resource data from the generated resource data by language of the system environment on which the application is executed, and convert the extracted resource data into the language of the application, and a resource data management unit to manage the resource data used in the application.

Claims

1. A multiple language support system for an application, the system comprising:

a resource data generation unit which generates first resource data according to a language of the application;

a resource data processing unit which extracts a second resource data from the first resource data according to a language of the system environment on which the application is executed, and converts the second resource data into the language of the application to generate a third resource data; and

a resource data management unit which manages the third resource data used in the application.

2. The system of claim 1, wherein the resource data generation unit generates the first resource data through at least one of resource data stored in a predetermined recording medium and resource data received through a predetermined communication medium.

3. The system of claim 2, wherein the resource data includes at least one of Menu, Help, Toolbar, Icon, Dialog and Font for a language, and information on a country.

4. The system of claim 3, wherein the resource data processing unit converts the second resource data into the language of the application according to a fourth resource data selected while installing or executing the application.

5. The system of claim 4, wherein the resource data processing unit supplies a predetermined graphical user interface which allows a user to change the fourth resource data while the execution is executing.

6. The system of claim 5, wherein the resource data management unit updates the third resource data according to the fourth resource data selected through the graphical user interface.

7. The system of claim 6, further comprising a language conversion unit which converts a language of data transmitted between the application and the system environment.

8. The system of claim 7, wherein the language conversion unit receives first data from the application in a common language used by all applications.

9. The system of claim 8, wherein the language conversion unit converts the common language of the first data into the language supported by the system environment to generate second data, and transmits the second data to the system environment.

10. The system of claim 9, wherein the language conversion unit converts a language of third data transmitted from the system environment into the common language to generate fourth data, and transmits the fourth data to the application.

11. A multiple language support method for an application, the method comprising:

generating first resource data according to a language of an application;

extracting second resource data from the first resource data according to a language of a system environment on which the application is executed, and converting the second resource data according to the language of the application to generate a third resource data; and

storing the third resource data in the application.

12. The method of claim 11, wherein the first resource data is generated through at least one of resource data stored in a predetermined recording medium and resource data received through a predetermined communication medium.

13. The method of claim 12, wherein the resource data includes at least one of Menu, Help, Toolbar, Icon, Dialog and Font for a language, and information on a country.

14. The method of claim 13, wherein converting of the second resource data comprises converting the second resource data according to a fourth resource data selected while installing or executing the application.

15. The method of claim 14, wherein the converting the second resource data comprises supplying a predetermined graphical user interface to allow a user to change the fourth resource data while the application is executing.

16. The method of claim 15, wherein the storing the third resource data in the application comprises updating the third resource data according to the fourth resource data selected through the graphical user interface.

17. The method of claim 16, further comprising converting a language of data transmitted between the application and the system environment.

18. The method of claim 17, wherein the converting the language of data transmitted between the application and the system environment comprises receiving first data from the application in a common language used by all applications.

19. The method of claim 18, wherein the converting the language of data transmitted between the application and the system environment comprises converting the common language of the first data into the language supported by the system environment to generate second data, and transmitting the second data to the system environment.

20. The method of claim 19, wherein the converting the language of data transmitted between the application and the system environment comprises converting a language of third data transmitted from the system environment into the common language used by all applications to generate fourth data, and transmitting the fourth data to the application.
