Abstract

A computerized method and system for implementing such method, the method comprising establishing a card payment instrument account for an approved customer and an investment account for the benefit of the approved customer. A rebate is calculated periodically based on credit card usage and the rebate is applied to fund the investment account periodically. The rebate is the only funding of the investment account accomplished through the card payment instrument account.

Claims

1. A computerized method comprising:

a card account provider establishing a card account using a computer for an approved cardholder;

monitoring the net-purchases in said card account and calculating a rebate based on the cardholder'"'"'s purchasing behavior periodically using a computer;

issuing a statement to said cardholder using a computer including said calculated rebate;

transferring the rebate to a rebate account using a computer; and

issuing a statement including information of the value of the rebate account to said cardholder;

wherein the statement including information of the value of the rebate account is a rebate account statement identifying rebate value applied to the rebate account; and

wherein the rebate account further identifies an accrued rebate value which has not yet vested to be applied to the rebate account.

2. The method of claim 1, wherein the rebate account is provided by the card account provider.

3. The method of claim 1, wherein the card account is a checking account.

4. The method of claim 1, wherein the card account is a debit card account.

5. The method of claim 1, wherein the card account is a bank card account.

6. The method of claim 1, wherein the card account is a stored value card account.

7. The method of claim 1, wherein the card account is a multi-featured credit card account.

8. The method of claim 1, wherein the card account is a transaction card account.

9. The method of claim 1, wherein the card account is a credit card account.

10. The method of claim 1, wherein the rebate account is a savings account.

11. The method of claim 1, wherein the rebate account is a home equity account.

12. The method of claim 1, wherein the rebate account is a checking account.

13. The method of claim 1, wherein the rebate account is an investment account.

14. The method of claim 1, wherein calculating a rebate based on a card holder'"'"'s purchasing behavior includes rounding up a purchase amount to the nearest dollar.

15. The method of claim 1, wherein special marketing promotion includes matching a portion of the rebate by the card issuer.

16. A computerized method comprising:

a card account provider establishing a debit card account using a computer for an approved cardholder;

monitoring the net-purchases in said debit card account and calculating a rebate based on the cardholder'"'"'s purchasing behavior periodically using a computer;

issuing a statement to said cardholder using a computer including said calculated rebate.

17. A computerized method comprising:

a card account provider establishing a card account using a computer for an approved cardholder;

monitoring the net-purchases in said card account and calculating a rebate based on the cardholder'"'"'s purchasing behavior periodically using a computer;

transferring the rebate to the rebate account using a computer; and

issuing a statement including information of the value of the rebate account to said cardholders.

18. A computerized method comprising:

a card account provider establishing a card account using a computer for an approved cardholder;

monitoring the net-purchases in said card account and calculating a rebate based on the cardholder'"'"'s levels of spending periodically using a computer;

issuing a statement to said cardholder using a computer including said calculated rebate;

transferring the rebate to a rebate account using a computer; and

issuing a statement including information of the value of the rebate account to said cardholder;

wherein the statement including information of the value of the rebate account is a rebate account statement identifying rebate value applied to the rebate account; and

wherein the rebate account statement further identifies an accrued rebate value which has not yet vested to be applied to the rebate account.

19. A computerized method comprising:

a card account provider establishing a card account using a computer for an approved cardholder;

monitoring the net-purchases in said card account and calculating a rebate based on a predetermined level provided by the card issuer periodically using a computer;

issuing a statement to said cardholder using a computer including said calculated rebate;

transferring the rebate to a rebate account using a computer; and

issuing a statement including information of the value of the rebate account to said cardholder;

wherein the statement including information of the value of the rebate account is a rebate account statement identifying rebate value applied to the rebate account; and

wherein the rebate account statement further identifies an accrued rebate value which has not yet vested to be applied to the rebate account.

20. A computerized method comprising:

a card account provider establishing a card account using a computer for an approved cardholder;

monitoring the net-purchases in said card account and calculating a rebate periodically using a computer, wherein the rebate is increased during a special marketing promotion;

issuing a statement to said cardholder using a computer including said calculated rebate;

transferring the rebate to a rebate account using a computer; and

issuing a statement including information of the value of the rebate account to said cardholder;

wherein the statement including information of the value of the rebate account is a rebate account statement identifying rebate value applied to the rebate account; and

wherein the rebate account statement further identifies an accrued rebate value which has not yet vested to be applied to the rebate account.

21. The method of claim 20, wherein special marketing promotion includes matching a portion of the rebate by the card issuer.

22. A computerized method comprising:

establishing a card instrument account for an approved cardholder by a card instrument issuer using a computer;

calculating a rebate based on the cardholder'"'"'s purchasing behavior for the card instrument account;

issuing a statement using a computer including said calculated rebate;

applying said rebate to a rebate account using a computer;

issuing a statement including information of the value of the rebate account to said cardholder;

wherein the statement including information of the value of the rebate account is a rebate account statement identifying rebate value applied to the rebate account; and

wherein the rebate account statement further identifies an accrued rebate value which has not yet vested to be applied to the rebate account.

23. A computerized method comprising:

establishing a card instrument account for an approved cardholder by a card instrument issuer using a computer;

calculating a rebate based on the cardholder'"'"'s levels of spending for the card instrument account;

issuing a statement using a computer including said calculated rebate;

applying said rebate to a rebate account using a computer;

issuing a statement including information of the value of the rebate account to said cardholder;

wherein the statement including information of the value of the rebate account is a rebate account statement identifying rebate value applied to the rebate account; and

wherein the rebate account statement further identifies an accrued rebate value which has not yet vested to be applied to the rebate account.

24. A computerized method comprising:

establishing a card instrument account for an approved cardholder by a card instrument issuer using a computer;

calculating a rebate based on a predetermined level provided by the card instrument issuer for the card instrument account;

issuing a statement using a computer including said calculated rebate;

applying said rebate to a rebate account using a computer;

issuing a statement including information of the value of the rebate account to said cardholder;

wherein the statement including information of the value of the rebate account is a rebate account statement identifying rebate value applied to the rebate account; and

wherein the rebate account statement further identifies an accrued rebate value which has not yet vested to be applied to the rebate account.

25. A computerized method comprising:

establishing a card instrument account for an approved cardholder by a card instrument issuer using a computer;

calculating a rebate periodically using a computer, wherein the rebate is increased during a special marketing promotion;

issuing a statement using a computer including said calculated rebate;

applying said rebate to a rebate account using a computer;

issuing a statement including information of the value of the rebate account to said cardholder;

wherein the statement including information of the value of the rebate account is a rebate account statement identifying rebate value applied to the rebate account; and

wherein the rebate account statement further identifies an accrued rebate value which has not yet vested to be applied to the rebate account.
