Abstract

A system for sending and receiving personal information using a mobile terminal is disclosed. In the present invention, a personal information is sent using a short message service with an attached identification information. Accordingly, when the short message is received by a receiving mobile terminal, the attached identification information allows the receiving mobile terminal to distinguish and process the short message for personal information differently from other general short messages.

Claims

1. A method of sending information using a mobile device, comprising:

selecting from a menu displayed on a first mobile terminal an option for inputting contact information;

thereafter displaying a screen for inputting contact information, and inputting a first set of contact information;

selecting from a menu an option for transmitting contact information; and

transmitting the first set of contact information to a second mobile device.

2. The method of claim 1, wherein transmitting the first set of contact information to a second mobile device comprises providing a second set of contact information related to the second mobile terminal, and transmitting the first set of contact information to the second mobile terminal based on the second set of contact information.

3. The method of claim 2, wherein the second set of contact information is at least one of a contact entry stored in the first mobile device, or a phone number, facsimile number, or email address input at the first mobile device.

4. The method of claim 2, wherein providing a second set of contact information related to the second mobile terminal comprises accessing a phone number automatically using a phone number listing stored in the first mobile device.

5. The method of claim 1, wherein the first set of contact information is at least one of a name, a phone number, an address, a business name, and email address, or a facsimile number.

6. The method of claim 1, further comprising receiving the first set of contact information at the second mobile device.

7. The method of claim 6, further comprising:

displaying received first set of contact information on a screen of the second mobile device; and

storing the first set of contact information in a contact list of the second mobile device.

8. The method of claim 1, transmitting the first set of contact information to a second mobile device comprises:

receiving a command to transmit the first set of contact information to through an input portion of the first mobile device;

formatting the contact information based on information included in the command to transmit the first set of contact information; and

transmitting the first set of contact information to the second mobile device in accordance with the command.

9. The method of claim 1, wherein transmitting the first set of contact information to a second mobile device comprises transmitting the first set of contact information as a short message.

10. The method of claim 9, further comprising inserting information into a first portion of a user data field of the short message distinguishing the contact information from other types of data.

11. The method of claim 10, further comprising:

receiving the short message at the second mobile terminal;

determing at the second mobile terminal if the received short message is for transmission of contact information based on the information inserted into the first portion of the user data field of the short message; and

storing the received short message as a contact entry in a contact entry list of the second mobile terminal if it is determined that the received short message is for transmission of contact information.
