1. A multiwell impedance measurement device comprising:

  • A. a plurality of chambers for containing separated samples in a planar array configuration, Said chambers having a bottom surface and said chambers being formed from an upper plate containing a plurality of through holes and a bottom plate, Said bottom plate having a top surface and a bottom surface, Said upper plate having a top surface and a bottom surface Said top surface of said bottom plate being sealingly affixed to said bottom surface of said upper plate. B. A plurality of functionally equivalent impedance measuring electrodes lying flat on said bottom surface of each of said plurality of chambers and on said top surface of said bottom plate, said electrodes exposed to said samples, wherein each of said electrodes is electrically insulated from each of the other electrodes in the device, said electrodes having a top surface and a bottom surface. C. Connection means for making electrical contact with each of said electrodes from said bottom surface of said bottom plate.
