Abstract

A monitor-based Texas Hold'"'"'em Poker game, where a plurality of game entries are displayed to a player and each game entry is associated with a winning odds and potential payout. After the player places a wager on one of the game entries, the system generates a set of community cards and determines a winning hand according to a set of predefined rules.

Claims

1. A method for playing a virtual game on a computing device, comprising the steps of:

displaying a plurality of entries to a virtual game to a player, each entry including at least two game elements, each game element associated with an game value according to a game rule for the virtual game;

displaying winning odds associated with each entry to the player;

receiving a wager from the player, the wager associated with at least one of the plurality of entries;

displaying a set of five game elements to the player;

determining a winning entry from the plurality of entries according to a predefined rule; and

determining a payout for the winning entry.

2. The method of claim 1, further comprising the step of displaying a plurality of prizes to the player, each prize associated with an entry.

3. The method of claim 1, wherein the step of displaying the set of five game elements further comprising the steps of:

displaying a set of first three game elements to the player; and

displaying a set of last two game elements to the player.

4. The method of claim 3, further comprising the step of updating the winning odds after displaying the set of the first three game elements to the player.

5. The method of claim 3, wherein the step of displaying the set of the last two game elements further comprising the step of displaying one game element at time.

6. The method of claim 1, further comprising the step of issuing a ticket with an indication of the player'"'"'s wager and associated entry to the player.

7. The method of claim 1, further comprising the step of displaying a plurality of non-winning indications, each non-winning indication associated with a non-winning entry.

8. The method of claim 1, wherein each entry further being associated with a prize.

9. The method of claim 1, wherein the predefined rule is the rule for a Texas Hold'"'"'em Poker game.

10. An apparatus for playing a virtual game, comprising:

a controller;

a display device in communication with the controller, the display device capable of displaying a plurality of entries to a player, each entry including at least two game elements, each game element associated with an game value according to a game rule for the virtual game, each entry being associated with winning odds;

a player input device in communication with the controller, the player input device capable of receiving a player bet from the player and communicating the player bet to the controller, the player bet being associated with an entry; and

a ticket issuing device in communication with the controller, the ticket issuing device capable of receiving ticket information from the controller and issuing a ticket to the player,

wherein the display device capable of receiving play information from the controller and displaying the play information to the player and the controller determining a winning entry from the plurality of entries according to a predefined rule.

11. The apparatus of claim 10, wherein the display device displays a set of three game elements after the player bet is received from the player, and the controller being capable of updating the winning odds for each entry after the display device displaying the set of three game elements to the player.

12. The apparatus of claim 10, wherein the each entry further being associated with a prize.

13. The apparatus of claim 10, wherein the ticket issuing device being capable of issuing a ticket with an indication of the player bet and associated entry to the player.

14. The apparatus of claim 10, wherein the display device displaying a plurality of non-winning indications, each non-winning indication associated with a non-winning entry.

15. The apparatus of claim 10, wherein the predefined rule is the rule for a Texas Hold'"'"'em Poker game.

16. A system for playing a virtual game, comprising:

a communication network;

at least one gaming machine in communication with the communication network; and

a server in communication with the at least one gaming machine through the communication network, server hosting a virtual game,

wherein the at least one gaming machine being capable of

receiving game information from the server and displaying a plurality of game entries to a player, each game entry including at least two game elements, each game element associated with an game value according to a game rule for the virtual game, each game entry being associated with winning odds,

receiving a player bet from the player and communicating the player bet to the server, the player bet being associated with an entry,

receiving ticket information from the server and issuing a ticket to the player,

receiving a plurality of game elements from the server and displaying the play information to the player, and

receiving winning information from the server, wherein the winning information being determined according to a predefined rule.

17. The system of claim 16, wherein the at least one gaming machine displays a set of three game elements after the player bet is received from the player, and the at least one gaming machine being capable of updating the winning odds for each entry after displaying the set of three game elements to the player.

18. The system of claim 16, wherein the each entry further being associated with a prize.

19. The system of claim 16, wherein the ticket includes an indication of the player bet and associated entry.

20. The system of claim 16, wherein the at least one gaming machine displaying a plurality of non-winning indications, each non-winning indication associated with a non-winning entry.
