System and method for timing of target speed for cooperative speed control system
First Claim
1. A device adapted to automatically control vehicle speed, comprising:
- a processor adapted to receive at least a first signal indicative of a first local required speed, a second signal indicative of a second local required speed received after the first signal, and a third signal indicative of a value of a current vehicle speed;
wherein the processor includes logic to;
automatically determine a new set vehicle speed based at least on the first local required speed, the second local required speed, and the current vehicle speed; and
automatically initiate output of a signal to a vehicle speed controller to change vehicle speed to a new set vehicle speed.

Abstract
A device for automatically controlling vehicle speed, including a processor that receives at least (i) a first signal indicative of a first local required speed, (ii) a second signal indicative of a second local required speed received after the first signal, and (iii) a third signal indicative of a value of a current vehicle speed, wherein the processor includes logic to automatically determine a new set vehicle speed based at least on the first local required speed, the second local required speed, and the current vehicle speed and to automatically initiate output of a signal to a vehicle speed controller to change vehicle speed to a new set vehicle speed.

28. A device adapted to automatically control vehicle speed, comprising:
-
a processor adapted to receive information indicative of respective set vehicle speeds and information indicative of respective geographic positions of a vehicle; and
a memory adapted to record the set vehicle speed and the geographic position from at least some of the information received by the processor such that at least some of the vehicle speeds are linked to respective geographic positions;
wherein the processor includes logic to;
automatically receive a signal indicative of a current geographic position and determine whether that signal is indicative of a geographic position recorded in the memory and, if so determined, initiate output of a signal to a vehicle speed controller to set a vehicle speed based on the respective speed linked to that geographic position. - View Dependent Claims (29, 30)
