1. A method for coordinating parameters in a vehicular switch fabric network, the vehicular switch fabric network comprising a plurality of interconnected nodes that allow for the transmission of data packets there between, the method comprising the steps of:
- sampling data and associating the sampled data to a first value of a vehicle parameter;
determining a new setting of an actuator based on the sampled data and determining a second value of the vehicle parameter when the new setting is to occur in the actuator;
generating a command data packet and transmitting the command data packet to a node in the vehicular switch fabric network associated with the actuator, the command data packet including the new setting and the second value of the vehicle parameter; and
establishing the new setting in the actuator when the second value of the vehicle parameter occurs.

Abstract
A system and method for coordinating parameters in a switch fabric network (22) of a vehicle (20). The network (22) has a plurality of nodes (24) that are interconnected by communication links for the transmission of data packets there between. Events in the vehicle (20) may be handled in connection with a vehicle parameter. One example of a vehicle parameter that may be used in the vehicle is the rotation of a crank shaft in the vehicle. An application uses that information to make a determination whether change a setting of a device in the vehicle (20). If so, the application generates a command data packet and transmits the command data packet over the switch fabric network (22). The command data packet transmitted by the application includes the new setting for the device along with a value of the vehicle parameter when the new setting should occur in the device. A node (24) associated with the device receives the data packet and acts on the information in the command data packet based on the value of the vehicle parameter within the data packet.

8. A communication network in a vehicle comprising:

a plurality of interconnecting nodes joined together by communication links for the transmission of data packets there between;
a processing node including a processor and a memory, the processing node adapted for receiving and transmitting data packets over the interconnecting nodes to control a vehicular subsystem; and
an actuator node associated with an actuator of the vehicular subsystem, the actuator node in communication with the processing node over the interconnecting nodes;

transmitting the new setting and the second value of the vehicle parameter to an actuator node in the switch fabric network that is associated with the actuator; and
